alistrannia shan crysis female, twenty seven, jedi | Face Claim: Olivia Wilde Name: Alistrannia Shan Nicknames: Noblesse Age: Twenty Seven standard years Sex: Female Species: Half Hapan, Human Home World: Born and raised upon Coruscant Faction: Jedi Order Title: Master, Battlemaster, Jedi High Council Member (Short Term) Knighthood: Guardian Rank: Jedi Commander
Hair: Her hair falls down to below her shoulder blades, in a mildly wavy fashion. Her hair color is a dark, dark brown, with very mild red highlights. Eyes: Her eyes are a distinct shade of blue, pale as ice and yet as fierce as fire. Body Shape: Alice takes great care of her body, and it shows. Her body is very toned and athletic looking, with a shapely figure. Weight: 130lb Scars, Piercings, Tattoos: Alice cares too much for the state of perfection her body is in to muddy damage her body so willingly. Cybernetic Implants: In a very recent battle against a Sith Acolyte, Alice sustained a Force Lightning which was not entirely deflected. The resulting damage left her left eye unusable, requiring a new implant to correct her vision. This implant drastically improves her sight, allowing her perfect dark vision, as well as the ability to see very clearly over long distances. It also responds much quicker than the Human eye, perceiving signals and sending them back to the brain much faster. As a result, she sees things unfold 'quicker' than others, and seems to be able to react to them better (when her reflexes allow). The implant appears as just a regular eye, matching her other in color. However, in total darkness, it gives off a faint blue hue, enough to mildly illuminate her face in a pale blue glow.
Clothing and Armor: Until very recently, Alice's garb was a simple one: black Jedi robes with a deep hood. A long sweeping cloak also attached to these robes served a more aesthetic appeal, often dragging able half a foot behind her as she walks. As of late however, a set of light Trooper armor has found itself added to her apparel, distinguishing her as a front-line fighter and respected Commander. Its shiny white surface contrasts her otherwise black apparel, lightening her appearance. Weaponry: She carries only her Lightsaber with her, and it does not leave her side for any reason.
Resources: Alice possesses nothing more than any other Jedi does, nor does she have any desire to change that.
Appearance: Determined.
She hears it from everyone, all the time - that she looks so determined. Her face is often stoic, unyielding, and void of as much emotion as possible (if not all of it). Her eyes are heavily lined with black eye liner, accentuating her already profound blue eyes and drawing all focus upon them. Her jaw-line and cheek bones are very well defined thanks to her Hapan lineage, completing her facial package into something eerily beautiful; hauntingly serene. She's been told she would be distractingly beautiful were it not for the energy and focus in her eyes that overshadows it.
That being said, the rest of her doesn't change this opinion much. Often times she's seen garbed in black robes that viel her entire body from view. This helps to draw more attention to the little portion of skin that does show - her face - as it is remarkably pale and a sharp contrast to the robes. Similarly, the Clone Armour she's begun wearing has the same contrast, but to a different effect; it instills an image of leadership and sustainability in her. The presence of this armour completes the image that follows with the name "Noblesse".
Alice has an uncanny ability to motivate those around her with a solemn confidence. Her presences doesn't get people cheering and exuberant; but rather instills them with a quiet sense of confidence. This is a trait of hers she acknowledges, and uses to her advantage whenever possible. This stretches even to the battlefield, where simply joining the ranks can mean the difference between desertion, and a rally.
Strengths:
Fearless
With the exception of falling to the lure of the dark side, Alice truly believes herself to be above fear. In many situations where others have proven themselves frightened, often beyond the point of functionality, Alice has kept herself calm and poised in the very face of it. She has accepted the Jedi teachings of embracing death, rather than loathing it, and there-by has escaped so much of what strikes fear into the heart of lesser folk. She refuses to submit to such a petty emotion, and is often the rally against it in dire situations. Her resilience to fear has been a shining beacon of light unto all around her, and a source of inspiration for herself, as well.
Focus
Alice has always had incredible control over herself, and her own mind. She's able to remove idle distractions from her mind with ease. Easily a product of her heritage, her years of dedicated training, and her own will to succeed in the eyes of everyone - especially herself. It's allowed her to master concepts quicker than others, and it allows her command of the Force to be that much sharper than normal - when her focus keeps. It's often a spectacle for her friends and allies, seeing just what she can push through. And just as her allies enjoy this strength, it puts incredible pressure upon her foes. Another key point of this is that it's next to impossible to read her thoughts. Even Master Yoda confessed trouble piercing her mind when she truly tried.
Dueling
Few within the Order can contest with Alice in a battle of the blades; Yoda, Anakin and Windu, specifically. All the years she spent confined within the Order did come with their advantages - she had all the time in the world to poor her heart and soul into mastering the things she desired to. As a result, her knowledge of Lightsaber forms is among the best in the Order - and growing. More importantly, she's become frighteningly competent at switching between forms, or even melding forms, during combat. This makes her style fluid and unpredictable, eroding any singular weakness from any particular form.
Motivation
Alice has always been a sight for sore eyes. Her presence soothing the worries and fears of those around her, and giving a warm hope to those who don't have any. She doesn't particularly understand it at times; she's a gifted Jedi, yes, but nothing for everyone to get all excited about. In her opinion. Never the less, she accepts that others see this in her, and plays it to her advantage when need be (or when others needs be). However, what she does accept in herself is how powerful her speeches can be. All the years confined to the Jedi archives lead to her discovering some of the most powerful words and speeches ever recorded. She took a shine to them; why they were motivational, the effects they had, and why. And she learned. Now, Alice is arguably one of the best at delivering a pep talk or rallying speech that resonates among all whom hear it.
Yojimbo
Alice is a dying breed of warrior. With her around, nobody is left behind. She will always be the first to set foot on the battlefield, first to be fired upon. Last to receive treatment, and last to exit the battlefield. Her Force granted gifts are, in her opinion, there to allow her the strength to push through what others cannot, and protect them better. Not herself. It's in her personality to go out of her way - even endanger herself - to save the life of another. It's earned her a lot of respect on the battlefield, and one of the largest reasons for her promotion to Jedi Commander.
Relentless
In or out of combat, it takes a lot for Alice to give up. In an engagement, she needs to be broken beyond the point of functionality before she will relent. Bloodied, bruised, burned - it really won't hold her back until her body gives out entirely. Similarly, any puzzle or challenge issued to her will be met with unwavering intellect and wisdom until her mind ceases to function, or the challenge proves itself beyond her skills to understand.
Unorthodox
A gift Alice ascertained from her former Master, Yoda. In their many, many years spent together, she learned how to approach problems and conflicts from angles others may not expect, or disregard entirely. It allows her to overcome challenges easier than many, especially puzzles and complex mysteries. In combat, it's taught her how to get the jump on her foes through use of 'shock and awe' tactics, and forcing one out of their focus through use of strange or inspiring tactics. She's got a reputation for this, easily one of the reasons she was assigned to the Jedi High Council so quickly after her promotion to Master.
Techno Savvy
With the notable exception of dog fighting, Alice considers herself very up to date with technology, and very knowledgeable in how to use it - as designed, or for something more. A result of her spending so much time alone, or researching, she's capable of picking up nearly any weapon or tool and discovering its purpose quickly; often putting it to good use before others would even think to decipher the item. An aspect of her versatility, as well as testament to her knowledge of the random and obscure.
Mobility
Even among Jedi, Alice is quick. She's considered one of the finest Jedi on the grounds of speed, reflexes, mobility, and agility. More or less a result of her tutelage under Jedi Master Yoda, to whom has a similar taste for mobility. However, practiced be someone larger, stronger, this skill is no less inspiring. She's able to close gaps in an instant, able to dodge blows with the slightest of movements, and contort to extraordinary positions in order to get a sudden advantage on her foes.
Weaknesses:
Fallen Angel
Alice has an incredible fear of falling to the Dark side. A part of this is her families history of doing so at the most inopportune times, forsaking all those they swore to love and protect. A much greater reason for this however, is the Jedi Orders fear of this. She's a well guarded secret of the Jedi Order for that exact reason. More than anything else, the fact that the Jedi Order cares this much about her fate worries her. As a result, she tries hard - too hard - to resist the pulls of the Dark side, and goes out of her way to try to destroy it. It makes her easier to goad than most (though few know of this flaw for her enemies have no real knowledge of her yet). And in its own way, it could very easily be a path to the Dark side, using her hate and fear to diminish foes.
Dog Fighting
Alice has no issue when it comes to piloting; she's as capable, if not more, than your average Jedi when she's placed in the cockpit of a craft. However, she knowingly lacks the killer instinct to make her a proficient combat pilot. She is unable to do anything offensively spectacular during such an engagement; escaping her foes and elaborate maneuvers are about her limit. As a result, she rarely takes up a personal craft in such matters, leaving others to the flying. She will always shy away from piloting.
War Mongering
The Clone Wars represent Alice's first true taste of freedom in the galaxy. Before this period in time, she spent most of her time confined to the Temple. While she respected the Councils judgement on the matter, she far from enjoyed it. Now that open war has hit the Republic, she finds herself cast into the real world - and she enjoys it. She is torn between desiring an end to such a bloody conflict, and enjoying some freedom she feared she would never have. As a result, she has found a new home upon the battlefield - and likes it there. She's almost eager to join her brethren on the battlefield, which is a dangerous notion.
Independent
Much of her life has been spent with others keeping a close reign over her; a watchful eye, and a nearly omnipresence around her. On one side of things, it's very flattering to know that people care that much for her, and that there are those she can count on to be there when she needs them. But at this stage in her life, Alice wishes little more than to be free of this and prove she can manage on her own for once. When possible, she will deter other Jedi from aiding her, and even other Troopers as well, unless she needs to support them rather than them supporting her. Otherwise, she operates alone as much as possible, and enjoys doing so. She needs to prove to herself that all the years of being overly supported haven't made her soft, dependent upon others. Alice needs to know she's as strong internally as everyone else believes.
Pride
Alice has one hell of a name to live up to. Though she commonly chooses to forget the events surrounding Bastila Shan, she thinks longingly upon the accomplishments of Satele, her role model. But those are big shoes to fill. Whether or not it's true, she feels as though it's her destiny to become like Satele, and do everything that she did. It's a motivator to her known to few, but a dangerous one, for pride is something that Jedi must be able to put on hold. In all respects she can do this but this one - she feels as though she must be successful or she will by sullying the name, "Shan".
Noblesse Oblige
Noblesse Oblige is a double bladed sword, one that has gotten her into trouble more than once. Noblesse Oblige demands that Alice be noble and dignified at all times, even when it would cost her her life or put great strain upon her. She acts with chivalry at all times, which includes; not allowing others to be punished for her mistakes, always taking the heaviest burden upon herself, and always choosing the road of self sacrifice if the good that could come of it would out-weigh the sacrifice. As such, she doesn't think twice about laying down her life in service to another. It's nearly cost her her life more times than she cares to think about. This combination of pride and respect ultimately derives from her self-enforced obligation to her family fame.
The Grand Confrontation
Alice knows deep within her that there will be a climactic battle between her and the forces of Darkness one day. Perhaps one day soon. She wants to embrace this situation, and emerge from the darkness, into the light, unscathed. And so she waits for it, almost excited for it. She wants to be challenged; to prove herself. And in any situation where she can do so, she will not accept help unless she feels she will gain nothing from winning by her own. Thus, she's very prone to seeking out a personal resolution to a confrontation with a Dark sider - one on one. To her, it's destiny.
Goals:
Master Martial Artist
One of Alice's most recent desires has been to overcome Yoda and Windu as the reigning dueling Master. An impossibility, many tell her, but they don't discourage her. She's already at a point where she can hold her own against Master Windu for a time (occasionally even managing to give him pause as she does so). Eventually, she hopes to be wise and powerful enough to create her own Combat Form, similar to what Master Windu has done with Form VII: Vapaad.
Destroy Temptation
Temptation has been a key fault of Alice's blood line for far, far too long. At its core sits the Sith, and their powerful means of temptation and defection. It's made the appearance of these new Sith somewhat of a personal vendetta for Alice - for she feels that by eliminating them, there can be no more temptations to the Dark side of the Force, and she can not only avenge her ancestors past, but liberate those to come from the same terror that grips at her.
Grandmaster Crysis
Should something terrible happen to Master Yoda after all these years (and truthfully, Alice does not wish it to come to that), Alice feels herself capable to assume Grand Master of the Jedi Order. She feels she has proven her capabilities in all aspects of being a Jedi, which alone would make her a prime choice. Moreover, such a feat has been accomplished by those in her bloodline before - the capability to lead the Jedi remains within her. She hopes that should the need arise for a new Grand Master, it would be her, as to bring pride to the family name.
Fears:
The Closer You Get to the Light, the Greater Your Shadow
More than anything else, Alice fears falling to the Dark side of the Force. So much hype has been built up within her upon the matter, between spending so many years confined to the Temple, and her own personal research into the tragedy of Bastila Shan. She understands that the road to temptation exists within her blood and takes ample precaution to avoid this fate. It can cause her to be reckless, wild, and over-zealous concerning matters of the Dark side.
Cage
Though her only true 'fear' is the Dark side, Alice loathes confinement to a point of almost fear. A result of all the years spent stuck in the Jedi Temple, sometimes rather unwillingly. The feeling of being helpless, that all chance for valor and glory have faded away... She despises that feeling more than words can express. She advocates freedom in many forms because of this, and will rarely accept being weighed down by something without good cause.
Personality: Alice acts a lot like how she looks. Focused. Unwavering. Strong.
She's notoriously determined. Many laugh about the nature of things she sets her mind to, claiming them to be, "best forgotten at this point", or "In for a very, very bad night". Alice allows nothing to stray her from her path, and is often vicious towards things that try to forcefully deter her focus. Specifically, people notice this during an engagement. Bred for battle, Alice is in her prime when she can be allowed to focus on a battle or spar. Which is obviously what she's most well known for; rivaling Master Windu, and fast approaching Yoda, as deadly combatants.
Outside of combat, Alice is just as focused. She has a great ability to disconcert herself with distractions and ensure that her task at hand is being completely. The opposite of curious.
Loyalty and devotion go hand in hand with this sense of focus that she has. Her resolve towards the Jedi, the Republic, and those she swears to protect, does not waver for much. She's able to lay her life on the line for anything she deems worthy of it, and without a second thought. A dying breed, she's told, as few live such a virtuous and noble life now days; which is actually the origin of Alice's nickname (one pushed on her by others, and grudgingly adopted), "Noblesse Oblige". The term means, "Obligated Nobility," which is to be noble and just for the sake of being just that. A rare trait shared by select few in the entire galaxy - one of which being Count Dooku.
As a leader, Alice is something to be marveled. Having been trained in the art of Battle Meditation for many, many years, the nature of leadership is ingrained within her core personality now. In all matters, she instinctively rises up to the challenge and assumes a role of leadership, or manufactures one if none be present. Bolstered by her Battle Meditation, she becomes something many - most - willingly follow, when direct. Coupled with the powerful presence of determination and strength she gives off at all times, this is only strengthened. If nothing else, she's a very respectable leader of both Jedi and Clones, able to balance their strengths and weaknesses aptly with her own abilities, and current circumstances.
History:The Shan bloodline has been one of the Jedi's greatest secrets for millennium after millennium; their bloodline among the few perceived to be important to keep - important enough to allow for mating and reproduction. For the great power that hides within its bloodline, combined with the great threat that accompanies it, the Jedi have always taken great care of all who share the name "Shan". For their fates are always intertwined with that of the galaxy, destined to be a noted part of history - for better or for worse.
Enter Alistrannia Shan, born unto a relatively gifted Human mother, and a very attractive Hapan male who was also a proven Jedi in the year 50BBY. It was thought that together, they would keep the Force strong within the family line, with both parents being of high midi-chlorian counts. She was born on 49BBY upon Coruscant, within the confines of the Jedi temple. A solemn celebration ensued; the bloodline continued for yet another generation. Unlike her mother, however, this child bore a much deeper connection to the Force. This was noticed within days of the childs birth, a swirling vortex of the Force surrounding the child. This presence was noted quickly by the Jedi High Council, and after great discussions and debates, they decided it may be best to keep the child separate from her family, and keep her under close watch within the Temple.
And there she stayed for a long, long time.
At the age of one, Alistrannia had already proven to the skeptics that she was in fact rather gifted; she was able to manipulate the Force (for albeit selfish and petty notions). Her reflexes were fast developing, and quick enough to catch a few careless caregivers off guard as she excitedly zoomed from her cribs or similar confinements at the age of two. Despite being a handful in her first few years, Alistrannia's gifts were heralded as a blessing upon the Order, and looked on in relative fondness. It was also during this time period that she lost her father to an exotic disease around the Outer Rim, though she had never known him. His presence (or rather, the loss of his presence) was unknowingly felt to her upon his death.
Progressing into childhood, Alistrannia began formal training in the Jedi arts as soon as she possibly could. In all areas of tutelege she excelled; she was crafty enough to solve the puzzles and riddles assigned to them, focused enough to accomplish basic tasks using the Force, and most of all, she enjoyed the art of Lightsaber combat. Perhaps a little too much, for in her adolescence, she was the instigator of several aggressive battles with other initiates; battles of epic proportion that many would sing of for years to come (that's what she told herself, at least). Minor injuries aside, her dedication to her Lightsaber was noted, and worked with by instructors. The greatest concern for the various Masters that oversaw her training at the time was her introvert and quite nature. While most Jedi are by conditioning calm, collected and quite, it was quite rare for a child to be such, and young and energetic children are often all over the place, and rather loud about it. Alistrannia was quite different. She didn't bond well with the others (in part because of the bruising she gave them), and showed little desire to. Lost in her own little world, she remained quite and stoic in all endeavors, refusing to speak unless it was necessary or when spoken to, and avoiding all social interactions whenever she could do so respectably.
It wasn't until Alistrannia surpassed the rank of Initiate and acquired that of Padawan did she learn of her heritage. The Master who had accepted her as his apprentice was quite conveniently the head of the Jedi Order, Master Yoda. His watchful eye was present upon her more than most others during the years that predicated that moment; having known many generations of Shans before her, he felt he understood what to expect, what to do and not do with someone such as her. This was further heightened by her incredible displays of focus and dedication to that which was taught to her. Together, he felt it in the best interests of all parties for him to take her up as an Apprentice. Who better to confer upon her the knowledge of her family than the one who had known so much of it? Alistrannia spent many weeks with Master Yoda pouring over books, holocrons and legends of her family; gaining the respect where it was deserved, and paying head to the warning where it was warranted. Humbled, Alistrannia took to heart just why it was that she was not allowed to meet her mother (who had taken up residency in another place entirely, as to prevent any 'accidental' meeting of mother and daughter). She also began to understand just why it was that her name was so special, and why it was that it must be kept a secret. And thus from this point on, Alistrannia took upon herself the persona of, "Alice Crysis", one that she could use in the real world that she was preparing to leap into alongside Master Yoda.
In the early months of Alice's training, she was first taught a different approach to thinking than most would ever learn naturally. Such was the wisdom of Master Yoda, who gifted to her the foundations of how to think in an abstract manner. The pair spent many years exploring the galaxy together; generally on peaceful trips to important systems, with the intent of having Alice build respect for the galaxy, and the accomplishments of her family. Eventually, she came to accept what it was he was trying to tell her. And for the most part, Yoda's intentions played out perfectly; trying to build within the the basis of respect for her own family, rather than pride. All of this aside, Alice couldn't have been happier than she was in those years. She never knew of life outside the Temple until Yoda was so kind to escort her out (he most likely felt her yearning for such). And what a glorious moment it was for Alice. For the first time she had expression and color in her face. For the first time, she displayed an interest (however small) in socialization. In many respects, she truly began to come out of her shell. And it brought relief to Yoda.
Over the next few years, two things changed for Alice. First, she began to get very used to her freedom within the galaxy. Mistakenly taking exploring the galaxy with Yoda for granted, she quickly began to loathe the periods in which Yoda had to return to the Temple for elongated periods of time, as the responsibilities of the head of the Jedi Order often demanded. Now, she wasn't one to complain about it, but she certainly resented it. For in the time they spent initially teaching her of the galaxy, she felt unrestrained by the shackled that once held her to the Temple - the tendrils of fate and power. Destiny. And when Yoda began taking her back and forth, it felt like just the same thing all over again. Suddenly, being important to the world was but a hindrence upon her freedoms. And so she grew remorseful for her ties to the world, as much as she respected them.
On the other hand, Alice's face began to receive recognition. Not so much for her own abilities (as a preteen, she hadn't quite gotten around to accomplishing anything remarkable, not that it wasn't on her to-do list), but because she was always seen with Master Yoda. Something nobody had thought of until it was too late; thankfully however, nobody knew her true identity, and thus it wasn't as large a problem as it could have been.
As Alice passed from child into teenager, her powers soon began to manifest into something her family was notorious for. Battle Meditation.
At the age of fourteen, it became very clear to her Master, whom could also use this ability to much greater effect, that Alice was capable of the legendary Battle Meditation skill that her family was relatively well known for. During this year, Master and Apprentice took to the jungle world of Kashyyyk for what they were told was a missing persons case of the Kings son, Prince Rikummee. A few rebellious Wookies living deep within the jungle, around the jungle floor, sought to overthrow the Kind through taking his son hostage and demanding he bow to their wishes. With a team of Wookie warriors, they set out from the capital in search of this Prince, and quickly found themselves ambushed by the rebellious group. And it was in this moment, when everything seemed dire for the company, that Alice reached out through the Force and synchronized her company with the thoughts and visions of each other. A seemingly confusing ordeal, but enough to allow each other to protect one another, enough so to survive the ambush without losses. Their mission was later completed and the Prince rescued, which established some good ties between the Wookies and the Jedi (specifically with Yoda and Alice). But the greater victory that day was the discovery that was made.
From that point forward, the 'real' training began.
Back at the Temple, Alice received training and tutelage, the likes of which she had never experienced before. The kind, curious, almost aloof nature that Yoda had taken up in the years before (similar to the one that he would take up with younglings) seemingly vanished, replaced with the harsh, wise being that had lived for nine hundred years and knew so much. It was rough, more because it was such a sudden change of pace than anything else. The slow paced, interesting life she had lead gone almost overnight. But she did enjoy it, eventually. Under the regimented work out and exercises, Alice flourished into a bulwark of discipline and focus. It began with intensive Lightsaber combat training; something that Alice had displayed an incredible aptitude for, and something that Yoda knew so very much about. Eventually this expanded out into her knowledge and control of the Force. And finally, it began with advanced instruction of the use of Battle Meditation. This skill more than anything she had ever learned proved overwhelming. A state of perpetual focus, coupled with a connection to the Force so deep as to be able to enter the hearts and minds of many and shread one of the most common emotions - fear - and replace it with valor. Fractions of that entire action could not be completed by some Jedi - this skill required it all do to be done. Perfectly.
Four years of constant training saw Alice rise up to a power that most Padawans rarely reach. As the time passed, she grew less and less resentful of her time spent confined to the Jedi Temple, for it housed a new purpose for her - her training, to which Alice became very found of. In it, she found a peace that she couldn't really find elsewhere. A freedom from the stresses and taxes of life. And of course, it meant she would rarely be disturbed by others, something her anti-social personality appreciated highly. And it was in this time that she established herself as a capable duelist, seeking techniques from and even challenging on rare occasion, Master Windu (rather unsuccessfully of course, but he enjoyed the prospect of a challenge all the same).
In the year 32 BBY everything changed. It began with the death of her mother, far out in the galaxy. Her cause of death forever a mystery, clearly foul play. Despite this action taking place in the Mid-Rim, Alice could feel her death all the way back upon Coruscant. Unlike with her father, she was capable of understanding what the terrible sensation was. This loss bothered her not so much because of her attachment to her mother, for there literally was none, but rather because she would never have the opportunity to know the woman who brought her into the galaxy. Robbed, almost, of an opportunity that she felt she had a right to. Her teachings as a Jedi naturally reminding her not to feel such, but the strong feeling that struck her at the moment of her death was not something she could easily ignore. It took much counseling from Master Yoda to help her overcome this feeling that lashed out at her, and even his words could not soothe her entirely. She desired a moment of space away from the Temple; a vacation of sorts, to allow her to calm her own mind away from the troubles she had about the Temple. At the time this was proposed, the idea was under serious consideration. And that was about when the Tatooine event unfolded.
A young boy by the name of Anakin Skywalker had come to the Jedi Order; professed to be the 'Chosen One' of obscure prophecy, said to be the one who would bring balance to the Force and destroy the Sith. The Sith who had unfortunetly presented themselves at the same time, invoking much fear in the Jedi Council. Among the various new restrictions and cautions the Jedi Council began to consider, was that of Alice not being able to leave the grounds. Alice was already experiencing tumultuous times on her own, the council didn't wish to have the threat of the Sith added into that. After all, her family was known for falling to the darkness when swayed properly. The last thing the Council wanted was her existence being discovered after so many thousands of years. Once again, Alice found herself restricted to the Jedi Temple. And once again, her displeasure with being born into her identity grew.
Alice wasn't angry with the Council. As much as she didn't enjoy their decision, she ultimately respected it. After all, she had learned so much of her family, and of what the fate of so many of them had been when exposed to the darkness, that she was already expecting their verdict the moment the word 'Sith' began to circulate again. Nor was she upset with the boy, Anakin, who had theoretically brought this imprisonment upon her. Once again, she was wise enough to understand that this was hardly his fault. Much the opposite, her sympathies went out to the boy upon his arrival, for his fate was to be very similar to her own. With a destiny laid out before him thanks to the supposed 'Chosen One' bit, he was forced into a role, expectations placed upon him... Much like herself. Rather than lash out at him, she mad an extra effort to get to know the boy for who he was, not for who he was to become, as well as help him feel welcome.
Her frustration was turned inwards, for being helpless to change something so influential upon her life - birth status. And for a while, she struggled to accept that she could not change it, and that it would be with her until her dying breath.
Due to her confinement, however, she did receive ultimately receive much more training under her Master than anticipated. For rare it was for Yoda to decide to up and leave without her Padawan. Rather than abandon her, he would often allow other Masters to go out and do the work that he would normally take upon himself. As a result, her concentrated training never really broke during these years. From 32BBY to 29BBY, it consumed her. And she wouldn't have had it any other way. Alice rose through the ranks, becoming quite the prodigy. First for her blade work, and her Battle Meditation. And then for her uncanny logic and unorthodox thinking. And then for her unwavering mental strength, and ability to focus so intensively upon whatever it was she was doing. For someone still at the rank of Padawan, she was truly something to marvel at.
And in the year 29BBY, the day after turning twenty one years of age, she was Knighted.
Upon reaching Knighthood, quite a few things changed for Alice. First and foremost, she was granted leave from the Jedi Temple once more, deemed resilient enough in both body and mind to resist the darkness. And more interestingly, Alice was quickly assigned a Padawan learner by the name of Ra'zia Adarkar, a fiery Human girl known for having a bit of a temper. This girl was only of the age of ten, never having had a formal Master before. To say that Alice was overwhelmed would be an understatement. She'd worked alongside others before, but to be entirely responsible for someone? That was something else entirely. So much responsibility coupled with so much sudden freedom... It threatened to warp Alice in ways that would subdue lesser individuals.
But Alice was no lesser individual.
The next three years were spent combining the duty she had to Ra'zia, as well as seeing to a personal need of Alice's - freedom. Much like the way her own training started, Alice decided it to be best to take her Padawan out into the galaxy, to learn of the nature of the galaxy and its connection to the Force. In this time, the spiteful, hot-headed nature of this girl was slowly curbed; some of it refined into the makings of a very adept swordsman, with the rest of it slowly dissipated away into nothing. All the while, Alice finally managed her breath of fresh air that she needed from the Jedi Temple; calming herself away from the shackles she felt about the entire planet of Coruscant. It proved effective in the end, with the relaxed nature that Alice adopted while traveling abroad significantly aiding her ability to instruct an aspiring Jedi. And the take upon the galaxy that Ra'zia was shown was incredibly humbling, enough so to calm some (and only some) of her aggressive nature.
Finally, nearing the age of twenty five, Alice and her Padawan Ra'zia began to take up missions from the Jedi Council. In the beginning, they stuck to what they knew; usually being assigned jobs of the more 'aggressive' nature, such as search and rescue missions, or dealing with pirates, or anything where a diplomatic solution was generally out of the question. Such missions were ones that the Coucil, as well as Alice, felt were within her abilities to complete. And they did, very well. What came as a greater surprise, however, was the success of their diplomatic missions. One such mission was actually a border dispute upon Kashyyyk (a planet Alice was growing all too familiar with). To the amazement of all, including herself, Alice demonstrated a talent for public speaking and mediating. A gift from the teachings and wisdom of Yoda, Alie was proving herself to excel in almost every field that a Jedi could be tested upon. And now her Padawan was sharing in the success too, however limited. Everyone expected the young girl to take just after her Master (as is common among the Jedi method of teaching).
Alice's reputation grew to the point of fame among the Jedi. Very rare was it that she did not complete a mission in such a fashion as to be worthy of recognition; be it for completing something much quicker than anticipated, for doing so without harming an individual, or even for discovering Force Sensitives in the galaxy that went unnoticed by the Republic. Alice emerged as one of the Jedi's greatest successes, a true paragon of their kind. She was looked up to by most Padawans, and respected by her superiors. Word slowly buzzed about her moving up into the Jedi High Council upon ascertaining the rank of Master. All that was holding her back from acquiring that was experience - the skill was never something anyone could dispute.
Everything she had trained for was realized in the year 22BBY. Everything she had built herself up to be proved its worth with the launch of the Clone Wars.
Alice, along with her Padawan, were selected to join the attack group lead by Mace Windu dispatched to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi (and Anakin Skywalker, and Padme Amidala, as it turned out). Alice was one of the very few to survive the battle within the Arena, thanks to her affinity for energy deflection as well as masterful blade handling. Much to her woe, the aspiring apprentice was not among the survivors; Ra'zia had fallen to Blaster of one Jango Fett. Despite this, Alice pushed through the endeavor, and was the first to set foot on the Geonoshian soil for the real battle of Geonosis. Together with many of her brothers and sisters, she lead the newly assembled Clone Army into combat, spear heading the operation with the aid of her Battle Meditation.
Upon returning to the Temple, Alice was granted the rank of Master despite unsuccessfully training a Padawan to the point of Knighthood. It was agreed upon that, should they have both returned from the endeavor alive, Ra'zia would have been allowed to take the Trials, which would have given Alice her rank anyways. Deeming it unfair for her to need to repeat the process, she was granted her rank, as well as a Short Term seat upon the Council (effective until the Clone Wars came to a close).
The following days saw Alice happily taking up a new Padawan learner by the name of Reno Salmara, who ironically enough had lost her Master during the Battle of Geonosis. A girl Alice was familiar with, for she considered taking her up as her apprentice before Ra'zia, but was unable to due to Reno being too young at the time. Now, however, the match seemed to have been planned out for them. Alice vowed to continue her training and do her best to ease the loss of her Master. In the weeks that followed this, Alice become one of the first Jedi Masters (after Master Yoda, Master Windu, and Ki-Adi-Mundi) to be charged with the control of her very own army - a Battalion of Clones. Together with this individualized army granted to her, Alice stepped up among the Jedi as an able and willing commander, seeing to the harshest and most unorthodox missions personally.
Her reputation continues to soar.
