Jinn Nialo Male, 23, Independant | Name: Jinn Nialo Nicknames: Nightfall Nialo, Merc with a Mouth, The Jinn Genie Age: 23 Sex: Male Species: Male Home World: Naboo Faction: Independent Rank: N/A Force Sensitive: Yes
Hair: color: Hazel Brown, Length: Shoulder Style: Windswept. Eyes: Brown and round Body Shape: Athletic and toned. Weight: 180 Scars, Piercings, Tattoos: Scar on his left breast, from a blaster shot, roughly 3cm in diameter, Scar on his right bicep going across Clothing and Armour: Generally wears a dirty cream cloth shirt which hangs down to his thighs when not tucked in, leather like material for trousers that again are baggy and a shade of black for colouring, they have several pockets all along the outside of the leg, which hold untold things. Jinn also wears a long blood red duster coat that comes down to the back of his ankles when not on a mission of great danger.
The only Armour Jinn wears is a Mk 45 Protective Vest, which was specifically designed to protect the wearer from sudden attacks originating from unexpected quarters. It offered near-perfect protection against blasters and slugthrowers; however this was only from direct shots. Anything that impacted the vest at an angle other than straight-on would penetrate the vest.
Weaponry: Dual DC-17 Heavy Blaster pistols stay under Jinn’s armpits in quick releasing holsters, Jinn often uses these pistols in a tight situation where most bounty hunters/smugglers/mercenaries would prefer a rifle by their side, or going into an open area or to protect someone, this ‘man for hire’ believes they are just as good as any rifle otherwise “Why would the Clone army be using them”
Grappling spike launcher, used purely to get up high ledges or to create a zip line to quickly reach a target he missed or to purely get away quickly
Vibroblade across Jinn’s back the hilt being over his right shoulder going diagonally across to his left thigh is where it usually remains, this weapon is purely to ‘stop other people’ attacking him without much more than a vibro shiv, Jinn does have experience with a sword and knows how to use it fairly well, however prefers a ranged fight with his pistols.
DC-17m ICWS Jinn mainly uses this weapon for sniping, or again for intimidation, more often than not he’ll go into a mission without it and leave it at his ship, however he does own one with the sniper attachment that he acquired during a few missions involving a stray trooper or two whilst working for the separatists.
V-1 thermal detonator is used when Jay is going to need to make an entrance, he can acquire stronger explosives if needed but the only one he keeps a supply of is these smaller versions of the A class Thermal detonators, purely as if he has to carry them around he should have something he can keep in his pockets.
Vibroknife is the last weapon in Jinn’s main arsenal of main attacking weapons, he rarely uses this weapon also, he prefers to keep it hidden in his boot so that if he gets caught and they’re not searching him thoroughly that he has a chance to escape with at least a small weapon.
Resources:
Jinn funds himself by his own ‘business’ as a ‘man for hire’ doing any odd job he can find that doesn’t involve the harming of children in some way *See weakness’* this generally gets him by at a minimum of one job a month, if it pays fairly well.
Ship: The only thing Jinn really owns other than his weapons and some clothes is a YV-100 light freighter, which is under the name “Grohiik ” it has standard equipment overall, and is well maintained, the only noticeable modification the general ‘quarters’ and it’s captains quarters are separate, as Jinn would often say “My ship, why should I sleep near you lot?” When carrying other people as cargo.
The ship’s colours are predominantly a grey/silver with yellow trims, and under the cockpit window is a vinyl of a blue skinned Twi’lek dancer above a sign that says the call sign of his ship the “Grohiik” however most shorten it to "the Hick"
Appearance: As mentioned before Jay in his casual time has a dirty cream cloth material top, that is tucked into his many pockets black baggy pants, and under the top is his armour which makes his body seem less toned than it actually is.
The coat comes over his shoulders, and down to the back of his ankles covering his arms, down to the wrist and more often than not hiding his two pistols that are under each arm in quick releasing holsters. On his back and over his right shoulder is the hilt of his vibro blade, and looking at him head on you can see just popping out of his left thigh is the end of the blade.
The Merc wears tall boots that come half way up his calf, and conceal a vibro knife, they are of a black material, and are often heavy and effective when used in a curb stomp.
Jinn’s face is untouched in the way of battle marks, and is rather defined in what most would call a “Genuinely handsome” kind of way his eyes are a deep hazel brown that most people have found ‘mesmerising’ which most quote that they get lost in them when they stare too long, mainly from a female perspective but some men have said the same thing and when his hair is loose it’s often hanging down where it pleases sometimes giving the appearance that he is ‘scruffy’ and ‘undignified’ but there is something about the way he holds himself which would suggest otherwise.
His body isn’t overly toned although you can see his muscles when skin is being shown, and is clearly athletic as the job would demand.
Strengths: Quick working Mind: Jinn’s mind due to his years in the company of bounty hunters and a fair few battlefields has caused his mind to work quicker than most, nothing like a genius of intellect but he can scan an open area and see where ambushes could be set, traps, where to funnel enemies and lead them away from and where he can sneak up from.
Arms training: Jinn was part of the Jedi’s when he was younger, then was trained as part of the galactic army once he had ran away from the temple, and then became a mercenary or ‘man for hire’ just before the Clone wars started, as such he has had various forms of training in firearms and hand to hand, and has expanded on them since.
Negotiator: Over the ears Jinn has found himself out gunned and out matched more than a few times, and not all of the time has he been able to fight his way out, as such he’s been teaching himself to be able to ‘talk’ his way would of certain situations, knowing how to say things to manipulate people to think that letting him go would not only be a good idea, but their own idea, as well as making them seem more dangerous/benevolent depending on the situation and whose captured him
Natural Pilot: Once behind the cockpit of a star fighter, or otherwise spacecraft Jinn acts as if he’s always been behind it all of his life, he doesn’t know where this talent comes from, but his expertise in space faring is that of an expert level, as well as his actual fighting skills in space.
Quick reflexes: When in a fight Jinn’s adrenaline flows more freely and for longer, and makes Jinn react faster to almost any situation, hitting targets more often and seeing where they are moving to, and then taking advantage of that enemy movement, are a few examples.
Quick Learner (None force): When it comes to mechanical, historical, or down right how to say something in a funny way Jinn was always quick to pick up the baton and run with it and soon after master it without much effort, this excludes all matters force related.
Engineer (Space): After having his ship for some time, and spending his time around a far ammount of technical goodies, Jinn soon learned to pick his way around a ship or two, this coupled with his natural piloting skills and his ability to be a quick learner gave him a knowledge around any ship he gets under the hood.
Animal Magnetism: Jinn often has been known to have a certain way with the females of most species, this isn't down to the force being in it in any way, it seems that most just seem to fall for 'something in his eyes' and his general facial and bodily structure.
Agile/Parkour/acrobatics: Being a man who has had to run a far few times in his life, and have to get up to certain places without the help of the force in every instance Jinn has learnt to be able to do flips, leaps, wall runs and other sorts of acrobatic moves to get from A to B and has more or less mastered it
Weaknesses: Women would be Jinn’s main weakness, for some reason he finds it hard, if not impossible to hurt women in any physical way, if his target is a woman (unbeknown to Jinn when he takes the job) He’ll not complete it, and may in fact warn her, this often causes him a lot of trouble and a lack of pay for that month/week. More often than not it backfires on him and causes him damage in some way, such as if he’s in a fire fight with a female assassin, it’s rare she’d have qualms to shoot him, whereas he finds it impossible to pull the trigger on her.
Children are the next biggest weakness, as he simply won’t go near them with hostile intentions due to the whole Moral issue he has about it. Also if he knows there are children involved he will go out of his way to help them to the best of his ability, and if he fails to save even one he will be hit hard for several months trawling cantina’s to ‘ease the pain’, which causes him to be very vulnerable due to the amount of alcohol consumption.
Land Vehicles, such as tanks hover cars and basically anything to do with land or sea is something Jinn cannot pilot, or generally likes being in. If he has to go in one he will be able to stomach it although he will feel queasy, and will generally be put off his game. Something about moving that close to the ground distracts Jinn more than it should, however strangely enough he is fine with moving platforms, such as the ones in the senate. Temper is another weakness for Jinn, as when he’s thrown into a rage he throws caution to the wind and blindly charges towards the enemy with his Vibroblade in hand, this is more often caused by the enemy who vaguely know something of his past mentioning his parents, that he didn’t know and personally feels he was torn away from, so any shot against them or using them against him causes Jinn to fly off into a blind rage.
Seducible (if that’s spelt right), Jinn is a man, but a man who likes his women more than most should, and as he is constantly looking for his ‘wife to be’ he can sometimes let his heart go before his normally rationale thinking brain, as such a clever woman may not only just use the fact that he won’t shoot/stab her, but the fact that she could probably make him fall in love with her in a heartbeat to do almost anything, or even to kill him fairly quickly.
Loyality: Jinn is just to damn loyal to his crew, if one of them was in any form of trouble he'd go 'above and beyond duty' to get them back to safety, if they were kidnapped he'd lead a full on frontal assault single handedly to try and get them back, which is easily abusable.
Talking back: This merc has never been one for flat out respect giving, he always feels people have to earn it and as such on the first meet everyone is a target of his smart mouth, and he often won't hold back until he either A: Knows you or B: Has had you help him out in a large way somehow, but this can often lead to a large bounty being placed on his head and ran off world, as he once called a femmine prince a "Curly haired pillow biter" because he wouldn't pay him enough for the job.
Bounty: As Jinn has taken many, many jobs in his few years of being a 'man for hire' and as he has less than intelligent way of speaking to people, he has earned a fair bounty on his head, and often this has lead to his refueling to be cut short due to several bar fights over him trying to be taken 'alive'
Speak/Act before thinking: Often Jinn has rushed forward with words or litterally and this has caused his own life to be in jepordy in more than one occasion.
Goals: Be alive by the end of the Clone wars, Have a wife/Serious relationship Gain more knowledge of the force without the help of the monks (Jedi) Fears: Being alone and ‘useless’ Bugs Personality: Jinn is normally what most people would call “Sarcastic” or the “joker” always seemingly trying to crack wise, or make people laugh, and never taking people seriously or deadly situations seriously. He as an overly optimistic view in pessimism, for example, if he’s pinned down by several gunner nests he may shout something like “I can sit here all day and be shot at! It’s not so bad!” or if he missed his shot at someone he’d shout “That was a warning shot” and then think “Frakk, That was supposed to be between the eyes”.
Others may call him insane in the way he takes on certain situations, or even call him arrogant as he would give off the impression he is immortal, and that everything is going to be alright, at least for him anyway. Jinn also doesn’t care about any male that can ‘handle’ themselves, and if he does work with someone he will often say “If you’re not at the ship by X hundred hours, I’ll give you one day to get to it, before I leave you here. So unless you’re dead, good luck!” And often leave them to their own devices of the plan.
Those who get to know him, will know him as a party loving trickster with somewhat of a silver tongue, he’ll soon talk his way into the VIP section of any club and within almost moments of getting a drink in hand he’ll have some form of female on his arm, and will always be telling jokes and keeping the mood light.
History: As a young lad Jinn was picked up on Naboo with a high mediclorine count and soon after the blood testing was taken to Coruscant to be trained to be a Jedi knight, the training of the initiate although wasn’t overly hard, was the only life Jinn knew, other kids spoke of knowing their parents occasionally but Jinn never knew them, and when he asked some of the masters who taught him he was told it was to clear his mind of any emotions that may cloud his thought.
This often annoyed the young lad but he knew that the masters would know better and often tried to meditate to clear his mind of the thoughts of his parents. Years passed and the thought never did leave him, in fact it grow, thrived even, and he began to wonder who they were and what they did, he thought and hoped, that if they were in the senate that he’d get to meet them as he grew older, and show them that their son was a Jedi knight.
However these idle day dreams of an initiate distracted him from his studies, and although he wasn’t punished for the thoughts, he was scorned from it, which angered Jinn, made him angrier that it should have for someone who wanted to become a guardian of peace. The anger was noted and Jinn was took to one side and taught about what the Dark side of the force did, how it corrupted and came from anger and other emotions. Jinn was shocked at how easy it was to ‘fall’ but it did add something for him to think about.
Around the age of nine or ten, the young lad was beginning to form his own opinions, and as he was in and out of scolding’s for doing things wrong, or with too much anger, or power, appearing to want to ‘hurt’ other students when training., Jinn began to wonder “Is the Dark side so bad? What if someone was to use the ‘light’ and ‘dark’ sides, wouldn’t he be stronger…. Wouldn’t that help more than being emotionless?” Jinn then spent the next few years beginning to discover his own emotions and use them, in small doses when training several force powers or even beginning to understand lightsaber basics.
Some masters suspected he was ‘going to the dark side’ although Jinn was smart enough to hide any form of anger and not let on that he was using emotions when training, the masters with no real proof left him alone, until he was of the age, around fourteen or fifteen, to become a padawan. With the way youngling was training he passed most of the trails with flying colours, and others he just passed with nothing special. However, although he passed the trails, no master took him under their proverbial wing.
Again anger flared up in the young lad, when he was told he would tend gardens rather than become a Jedi, a real Jedi, the masters tried to explain how it was still an important job to tend to the beauty of agriculture, but that was just insult to injury for the lad. However he didn’t strike out, he didn’t attack anyone, he knew better than that. He simply left the temple at night, packed up what little things he had and left a datapad leaving a message, expressing his troubles in less than impressive choice of words.
From there he was just a boy, on Coruscant, no money, no real trade, only on the threshold of force knowledge. He spent a few months using a weak form of the mind trick on people, to get some credits to get food and so forth. Jinn’s body didn’t diminish, the training he had done in the temple kept him thin, and he didn’t starve, and on the back streets of the city wide planet Jinn was beginning to get a taste of the real world, some days he got mugged and beat up, other days he fended off the back street urchins.
Until one day a passing army recruiter was on his way home from a senate, when he came across Jinn in a back alley fending his food off from three or four other boys, and when the fight was over it wasn’t just pity the soldier found as he watched, he was also impressed, the boy handled himself with some grace as he fought, and although his hand to hand was sloppy it was obvious he was meant to fight.
As the tall man approached the young lad Jinn moved back into his really sloppy fighting stance and the man waved him down before telling the boy who he was, and if he wanted to not fight thugs off the street for a meal, he could put him in the army, and train him to fight for peace. Those were the words Jinn needed to hear ‘fight for peace’ it wasn’t as a Jedi but as a soldier, he snapped up the offer, not only because it was what he was taught he wanted to do from the order but because it beat fighting for a meal and credits off the street.
With the help of his minute knowledge of the force, Jinn was fast on his way to become a soldier in the Judicial force, despite his age, he passed every test better than some of the people who trained all their life to get into the army, the sort who had their parents and grandparents and great grandparents die in wars, so now it was their turn. Of course this caused some friction between Jinn and the other cadets, but mostly it was benign, some live round exercises had some close shots fired towards the lad. However the young man never took it seriously as he knew that when on the battlefield they’d need him.
Three years later, Jinn and his squad were on a jungle moon base on some rock he hardly remembers, he was tasked to patrol and maintain the locals to maintain that they would stay in the peaceful traiding ways, when a rising pirate gang had begun stiring a rebellion and assault, the base wasn’t prepared, most died in the initial bombing, and explosions that decimated the main defences of the small base. There was over two hundred soldiers there, when the fighting actually started there was little over fifty.
However those fifty managed to hold the local assault force of three hundred or so, and although they were ill trained they were overwhelming, back for a good three hours, now whilst they were defending the base they hailed for reinforcements, however no matter how fast their ships would be everyone in that base knew they would have to hide, or die fighting. Jinn having seen combat for real, people dying around him, panicked and fled, as the actual pirates began to march through their the defending fire.
Several men noticed Jinn running, from the base into the tree line, he was barely equipped, he only had a DC-17 blaster pistol on him and that was in what was close to a death grip, there was no way he would let go of it, as he fled into the forest. Soon when the sounds of blaster fire and people screaming were beginning to lessen Jinn heard a sound that sent a shiver down his back. The sound of STAPs he was being followed. It didn’t take long for him to hear blaster fire, and the earth near him shot up and as the impact of their cannons landed.
Jinn turned and fled again, adrenaline hitting him hard. He ducked, weaved, and generally kept moving through the roots and wooden obstacles, occasionally he turned to fire blindly into the tree lines hoping something would happen, only when he was getting tired did he get lucky with a shot, hearing an explosion.
The chase continued and soon Jinn came to a huge ravine roughly twenty to twenty five metres across, and with Jinn suddenly stopping, and the STAPS not having to really worry about gravity they soon hovered out in front of him, after sweeping out over the ravine and then coming back to the tree line so he wouldn’t run. A voice boomed across the empty ravine towards this lone, almost cowering, boy ” Turn yourself in, it will be less painful”
It struck Jinn then, that all he had been doing was running from one organisation, to another, always running, running from the Jedi’s ways, then running from the pirates and locals when he could have proved himself, and died like a hero. Always running, that thought brought a smirk to Jinn’s lips as he raised his hands up and leapt backwards with one sentence coming from him.
“Frak off scum for brains” after he was in the air and about to plummet into the river far below he brought his pistol forward and fired two shots, now that he was looking at them the rapid fire of the DC-17 he was using cut across the line of tree’s behind them, and through the two flimsy pieces of gristle that they called a neck, severing them from online duty.
Jinn then closed his eyes and in his mind thought “Force guide me…” he opened his arms and soon a coldness was around him, his hearing was taken from him and replaced with a roaring sound. All around the lad was cold and he thought he was dead, in fact he was unconscious, and luckily floated down the river on his back until he came up onto a bank a mile or two down the way.
The young solider spent two days unconscious, his hand still grasping his DC-17 pistol, by now the reinforcements had come, driven out the rebellion, and were looking for all those MIA. They found Jinn’s body and treated him; he awoke in a cruiser in a bacta tank a day later.
When he was awoken, he was debriefed and charged with cowardice and desertion, as he did run away from the fight rather than die, like his orders would have him do, he lost the court marshal, and was dishonourably discharged, the only thing he kept from his career in the army was the memories, the training and this DC-17 blaster.
However his mind kept replaying the events of the STAPs on that rock, how he survived reasonably unharmed, bar a concussion, a broken bone or two and some water damage to his skin, he remembered the words that echo’d in his mind “Force guide me” was he really saved by something he ran away from. Jinn spent the next week or so thinking about it, in detail, turning the thought and theories over in his mind over and over again, in a booth of a cantina on some run down space station they lumbered him on.
The last of his discharge pay was in site, he could barely last a couple of months, at the rate he was drinking and not doing work. Then one day he was thinking over the “Force guide me”, whilst on the way to the Cantina to get his daily dose of alcohol, when he saw a holo add selling a used YV-100 Light freighter, only minor damaged. He checked his credit chip, and saw he had enough with some left over for some supplies to get it. Slowly he lowered his chip and thought “It can’t be….” As such the ‘broken solider’ bought the ship, supplied it for just under a week, then set off into space.
The long haired alcoholic had decided he’d live his life care free, walking down the line the force put in front of him, he’d help people, just like he always wanted, where he could, and when not doing whatever job he could to get by, he’d try to continue his knowledge in the force, more so now than he did on the back streets, and in the army, as now the time was his own.
Three years later, Jinn is not unknown in the galaxy as a ‘man for hire’ that will do any work for the right pay check, and as the war waged, he was often hired by both sides to do various missions that they wouldn’t do themselves, he was kitted out with some guns, he bought another DC-17 to go with the one he kept from his service, and whilst working with the Separatists, he picked up one of the commandos riffles, and eventually took a sniper attachment for it. All the while he meditated on his ship, with auto pilot on, and contemplated the force, he began to feel how it affected him, and how it could help him in future on jobs.
However this was just the beginning of Jinn’s story in a galaxy far far away.
