There are many things that you'll need to have in order before you begin an assault, or come to the defense. The entire list below are considerations before moving to a battlefield. Please make sure you've thought this all our before even filling out an application for this.
Can you get there?
It sounds silly, what with all the high-tec transportation, but it needs to be considered. Many things may obstruct your path, including enemy forces. And do you have the resources to get there? What about getting back?
Are you supplied?
If you've been chased around the galaxy without any chance to restock, you're certainly not in any position to go on an offensive. Keep in mind the material factors of moving an army.
Are you repaired?
Similar to the above; are your weapons in good order? What about your ships and droids?
Do you know your objective?
You best have a legitimate reason for assaulting a region. What that is is your business, but don't be picking a planet at random for the sake of attacking someone. Have a reason. A good one.
Do you have the support of your allies?
Have you checked with your allies and superiors before taking up this assault? Are they okay with it? Are they waiting in line to support you with reinforcements if you need it?
Do you have a plan b?
Things always go wrong. Do you have an escape plan, should you need one?
