General Grievous Male, 50, CIS | Play-By: LucasArt's computer Name: Qymaen jai Sheelal Nicknames: General Grievous, the Knightslayer Age: 50 Sex: Male Species: Kaleesh Home World: Kalee Faction: Confederacy of Independent Systems Title: Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies Rank: Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies Force Sensitive: No
Hair: N/A, previously black Eyes: Yellow, reptilian looking with horizontal black pupils Body Shape: Originally a dark-gray skinned reptilian humanoid, Grievous's body was damaged beyond repairs and had to be replaced entirely, turning him into a cyborg. His new body is skeletal, droid looking which results in people often mistaking him for a mere droid. He has recently had him self modified, adding an extra pair of hands, allowing him to wield four melee weapons at the same time. Height: 2.16 meters Weight: 350 pounds Scars, Piercings, Tattoos: N/A Languages: Kaleesh, Galactic Basic and Binary Clothing and Armor: Due to the fact that his severely mutilated body is almost entirely cybernetic, he fails to see any reason to wear any form of clothing, with the notable exception of his cloaks, which he prefers to wear at most times and utilizes to hide his skeletal looking cyborg figure. Although most people around him believe that he wears them for practical reasons, to hide his lightsabers to be precise, there is more to it than that. They, along with the mask protecting his head are of Kaleesh traditional design and are among the last things that connect him to his former life as the Kaleesh warlord, Qymaen jai Sheelal. The said cloaks are relatively simple looking and vary in colors, though he seems to favor white/white, white/red and dark gray/red color combinations. Weaponry: Originally presented with the lightsaber of Sifo-Dyas, he has started collecting lightsabers from fallen Jedi. He personally uses the said lightsabers in combat and carries at least four on him self at any time. They are kept either in the pockets on his cloak or hanging at the side of his hips.
He also often carries around a DT-57 heavy blaster pistol, which he sometimes carries around at his side, although he is known to frequently keep it at other places such as in his personal starfighter. He rarely uses the blaster and usually only relies on it as his last resort. The said blaster is custom made and has been modified. It is usually referred to as the "Grievance Striker."
Resources: As one of the leaders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies, he is generally well off and some what enjoys a life of luxury. His possessions include :
Grievous's Castle : Located on the third moon of Vassek, a planet located on the outer rim, Grievous's Castle is the personal retreat of the fiendish droid General. The castle is built into the rockface of a large gorge. Shrouded by the moon's heavy fog, Grievous's castle is specifically designed to cater to the needs of the general, with an operating and repair room, a hangar for his starfighter, and several booby traps intended for intruders. The halls of the building are adorned with statues depicting the General as a Kaleesh warrior with mechanical limbs. An extensive warehouse is stacked with replacement parts for the mechanical general. His castle also includes a control room where he can monitor the halls. From the control room he can activate various traps including releasing Gor and triggering a trap door leading to a molten incinerator vat. The control room's door can only be opened by pressing a number of buttons in the correct order. Aside from Grievous, the castle is the home to the general's repair droid EV-A4-D, Gor, Grievous's pet roggwart, and a cadre of IG-100 MagnaGuards who protect the lair.
EV-A4-D : EV-A4-D, also known as A4-D, is a modified EV-series supervisor droid who serves the General Grievous of the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a medical/repair droid. As with many EV-model droids, a programming defect caused EV-A4-D to have a sadistic personality. Prior to his work with Grievous, EV-A4-D served as a supervisor in a hospital on the world of Tauber, but he was relieved from duty after ordering the medical droids under his command to operate on patients without administering painkillers. He was later purchased by the InterGalactic Banking Clan and absorbed into the Confederacy of Independent Systems. EV-A4-D was eventually assigned to work as the personal doctor of Grievous. Stationed in Grievous's castle on the third moon of Vassek, EV-A4-D became the facility's caretaker, managing the general's residence and working to repair any damage he sustained to his cyborg body over the course of the war.
Gor : Gor is General Grievous's male roggwart pet. Following the defeat of the Bitthævrians in the Kaleesh–Bitthævrian War, the victorious Kaleesh warlords took roggwarts as trophies from the Bitthævrian homeworld of Guiteica. One such roggwart came into the possession of General Grievous, who named it "Gor." He keeps Gor in his castle on the third moon of the planet Vassek. There, Gor acts as both a guard and a pet for the general. Gor came to be loved by the general, and is one of the few creatures Grievous cares for. While the general is away, Gor is tended to by his master's medical droid, EV-A4-D. The droid was responsible for fitting Gor with four cybernetic limbs grafted to his back, and attaching an exoskeleton of armor to the roggwart's body.
Soulless One : The Soulless One is the personal starfighter of General Grievous. It is a modified Belbullab-22 starfighter, a fast and agile prong-shaped vessel produced by Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies. Grievous considers his fighter to be a vision of the future of warfare, with a powerful arsenal consisting of two sets of triple rapid-fire laser cannons. The starfighter is easily able to match the Porax-38 starfighter for speed, fitted with twin ion drives and an extremely powerful hyperdrive. Grievous modified his fighter with a top-of-the-line hyperdrive allowing the cyborg general to stay mobile on a galaxy-wide scale. In order to remain in touch with his forces while flying his fighter, a powerful but compact HoloNet transceiver was installed onboard, allowing Grievous to slice into legitimate and pirate networks. He also outfitted the Soulless One with a deflector shield, and had the entire hull coated in a thin layer of impervium, making the fighter impenetrable to all but the heaviest of enemy fire. The starfighter was originally designed for a biological pilot, and the one-pilot cockpit was equipped with a life-support system.
Appearance: There is a reason why it is commonly said that Grievous literally bridges the gap between the battle droids and the organic soldiers of the Confederate Armed Forces. Having lost his original organic body when the Martyr crashed, his eyes, brain and internal organs were placed in a skeletal looking, mechanic droid body.
A twisted combination of flesh and metal, most people dismiss him as a mere droid at first sight. How ever, if one looks closely there are several details that prove the otherwise. The first and most noticeable are his yellow, reptilian looking eyes with horizontal black pupils that can be seen along with a small piece of reddish brown flesh that are peaking out the holes on the mask keeping his head together. Pure hatred and anger are the only emotions most people can see when they look into his eyes, how ever an occasional few may spot the truth ; extreme grief. The other thing that proves him to be a living being is if one looks closely down his neck or opens his chest plates, his beating heart can be seen along with what remains of his original organic form. The organs in the synth-skin gut-sack are covered in oil to preserve them.
His limbs consist of a set of legs and a set of six fingered arms, that can be split lengthwise into four. His fingers and toes are clawed, enabling him to bury them into hard material and walk in a gravity defying manner up walls or hang upside down from the roof. Furthermore, he has repulsorlifts built into his legs, allowing his feet to double as hands. This allows him to wield as many as six lightsabers all at once.
Those familiar with the Kaleesh culture can spot a few traits that identify him as a Kalee. Those are his armored mask strongly resembles the mumuu skull he wore during the Huk war, as well as his cloaks. He usually tends to hide most of his body under the cloak, often giving him a mysterious, yet cynical presence that strikes fear in the hearts of many.
Overall, his appearance is relatively striking and may shock many.
Strengths:
Cyborg : While Grievous's lack of natural organic body is obviously a serious disability, it also has it's upsides and has arguably enhanced his skills and abilities in many ways. Each of his six-fingered arms can split lengthwise in two, thus giving Grievous the ability to use four limbs, each armed with a lightsaber. Able to spin these arms in a whirling storm of deadly lacerating light that few can withstand, he is also able to spin his torso and his wrists in a 360 degree motion at extremely fast speeds continuously, effectively becoming a lightsaber buzz-saw. In addition to this, Grievous had repulsorlifts built into his legs, allowing his feet to double as hands. This allows him to wield six lightsabers all at once. His mechanical enhancements give him an edge in close-quarter combat, enabling him to battle and hold his own against several Jedi simultaneously.
The Geonosian scientists altered his brain to enhance his equilibrium, allowing him to better employ his newfound agility. Internal implants were also placed in his eyes to sharpen his vision and to protect them from the vacuum of space. Thus, his mechanical body is capable of surviving in the vacuum of space.
Warrior : Even prior to his transformation into the cyborg General, Grievous was a brilliant warrior who was viewed as a demigod among his native people of Kalee. Originally he mastered the art of marksmanship, but after meeting and falling in love with Ronderu lij Kummar, he mastered the art of fighting with a sword from her. He was so good he caught the attention of Darth Sidious no less and was considered the prime candidate to lead the military of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the upcoming war with the Galactic Republic.
Duelist : Already an extraordinarily skilled warrior, his skills only improved after Count Dooku, who's arguably among the greatest duelists in the galaxy, started training him in the art of fighting with a lightsaber.
Taught about all the forms to some degree, Grievous developed his own unorthodox, but extremely effective fighting style by mixing his new found knowledge of the traditional lightsaber styles with his prior experience in fighting with traditional Kaleesh swords. He quickly surpassed all other apprentices Dooku had taken on in the terms of lightsaber dueling.
That, combined with the enhanced agility and speed his new mechanical body gives him, enables him to take on several Jedi simultaneously, making him arguably one of the greatest duelists the galaxy has to offer and makes him one of the most dangerous enemies to the Jedi Order and the Republic it protects.
Master Tactician : Decades up on decades of constant warfare, whether it be the Huk, the Republic or the Jedi, Grievous has proven him self to be an immensely skilled military commander. While he constantly argues that the droids he is given to command are inadequate, he has already started to make a major impact on the war by successfully outmaneuvering the Grand Army of the Republic.
A brutal enemy, he utilizes chaotic battle strategies that appear random, but in fact are carefully calculated to encourage misconceptions. Grievous singles out civilian targets during battles, forcing his enemies to choose between winning the battle or saving lives, a tactic long practiced by the Sith. However, he is arrogant, and sometimes underestimated his enemies. Nonetheless, the cyborg is considered a military genius by many, though some argue that he lacks subtlety. He also has an advantage in that he can directly control his droid armies using the two antennae built into his head, giving him extra control in battle.
General Grievous is arguably the greatest military mind the Confederacy has to offer.
Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies : Although he's arguably a mere paw in Darth Sidious's complicated scheme, Grievous serves the Confederacy of Independent Systems as the Supreme Commander and absolute leader of the Droid Armies, efficiently placing him in direct command of the largest military force in the galaxy.
The military it self is a massive mix of weapons of war, battle droids, organic forces, and local warriors, with General Grievous literally bridging the gap between the organic and the automaton. The Droid Army is said to consist of as many as quintillions of battle droids.
Though he formally has a seat on the Separatist Council, he takes very little part in it's activities and the Council it self has no authority over him and vica versa. He is answerable only to the Head of State, Count Dooku and secretly, to Darth Sidious. Furthermore, in the event of Count Dooku's unexpected death, General Grievous is the formally designated heir as the Supreme Commander and is to assume full control over the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Weaknesses:
Droid : Even though he admits that his new mechanical body gives him all sorts of advantages and enables him to do things otherwise impossible, he sorely misses his original body. In fact, the only reason he agreed to be transformed into a cyborg was because the only other choice was to die in San Hill's bacta tank, as a limbless cripple. Needless to say, he preferred to be given the choice of dying a warriors death instead.
His new body it self is not without a flaw. Although he can now spare loosing a limb or two, any further damage to his remaining organs would most likely kill him.
Coward : When people think of Grievous, coward is usually not one of the first words that come to mind. Most people believe he is the ultimate warrior, invincible and fearless, but that is actually not the truth.
In reality, when ever his battle or in many cases, duels start to turn into his opponents favor, he usually abandons the front line and runs for his life. This is something his enemies use quite a lot against him and he is usually portrayed as a coward in enemy propaganda.
As for Grievous him self ; he firmly believes that he is merely making a 'strategic retreat' so that he can continue the fight another day. Perhaps that's one of the traits that make him such a nuisance to his enemies.
Pawn : While the galaxy will come to know Grievous as a vicious Jedi slayer, the Supreme Commander of the Droid Army, as well as one of, if not possibly the most powerful figure within the Confederacy excluding Count Dooku, he is actually merely a pawn in Darth Sidious's plan.
The fact is that Grievous didn't become what he is, the Sith created him by planting the bomb on board the Martyr and turning him into a cyborg, modifying elements of his brain in the progress as well as planting the idea that the Jedi and the Republic were behind the attack that crippled him. Combining that with the enhancing of his rage centers and further brainwashing, they created the ideal General, exactly the way they needed him.
Not many seem to be aware of this outside of the Sith, not even Grievous him self, so he genuinely believes that he is their most trusted subordinate and main weapon in the war against the Republic, so he most certainly doesn't expect to suddenly become "expendable" and thus won't be anticipating it if they reveal his location to the Jedi or if the droid army gets deactivated.
Arrogance : Undeniably a cunning warrior and a brilliant military leader, his ego has grown considerably with his new leadership position and training. His triumphs over the Jedi, whom are widely considered to be among the most difficult beings to defeat, have only further encouraged him to be arrogant and blindly have faith in his own abilities.
This sometimes backfires on him when he refuses to back down when that would be the most logical thing to do, because he firmly believes at times that he is completely invincible.
Non-Force sensitive : While to many people this wouldn't be considered a weakness, it could be considered a quite severe one in Grievous case. But the fact is that leading the armies of the Confederacy frequently pits him against the Jedi in personal combat.
While he is indeed a brilliant duelist that can out fight the average Jedi Knight, his lack of the ability to influence the force can be a major disadvantage. For example, he could be easily thrown off balance with a simple force push.
Goals:
Reform the Confederate Army : While he prides him self in being the commanding officer of the Separatist armed forces, he constantly argues that the battle droids that form the backbone of it are inadequate, or even useless. He desires to have more real warriors of flesh and blood under his command, soldiers capable of independent thinking who last longer than the notoriously incompetent battle droids.
Destroy the Republic : When Grievous finally managed to push back his enemies and bring the war to their worlds during the Huk war, the Republic sided with the Huk and placed severe sanctions on the Kaleesh people. The sanctions caused a catastrophic economical crash on Kalee and hundreds of thousands starved, including several of his wives and children. This, he has never forgiven the Republic, nor will he ever do and he has every intention to tear it to pieces, one planet at a time.
Annihilate all Jedi: When the Republic sided with the Huk, so did the Jedi. He holds them responsible for how badly things went and he wishes nothing more than have his revenge on them for that. Furthermore, when he was wounded when the Martyr crashed, Count Dooku and the other Separatists installed the thoughts and brainwashed him to believe that the Jedi were responsible for this attack on his life. After that, he believes that Jedi are nothing more than backstabbing cowards that hide in the shadows and tried to rob him of his chance to die a warriors death.
Fears:
Death : While appearing as a fearless warrior to many, his true nature reveals it self when the tide turns against him ; he runs for his life.
Conspiracy : He firmly believes that the Jedi are people who plot underneath the surface and stab people in the back from the shadows. How ever, that doesn't only apply for the Jedi since he suspects that the Sith and the Confederate leadership are up to something, and it frightens him.
Personality: To most, if not all people, General Grievous appears as a merciless being, devout of all emotions but hate, anger and lust for blood. The people of the galaxy widely believe that he's simply pure evil who performs sadistic things for the sake of just being evil. How ever, his personality is so much more complex than anyone realizes.
The one thing that defines his characteristics the most, is his extreme grief, hence the name "Grievous." He has been repeatedly struck by grief over and over in his life. First, he grew up on war-torn and famine plagued planet that was frequently assaulted by neighbors who enslaved the survivors to utilize as slave labor force. He had no choice but fight from an early age, lost his one true love in the said war, watched his family starve along with his people and then finally lost his entire body and became a cyborg.
Another important factor to his character development is how he has been brainwashed and his brain even tinkered with by the Separatists. They enhanced his rage and the hate he has for the Republic and the Jedi for assisting the Huk in the war and then for the attempt on his life (which they actually had nothing to do with).
These events have made him apparently devout of emotions and he brutally tortures and kills anyone he wishes. How ever that is not entirely true, he is capable of showing mercy and sympathy or even love. This can be seen in his relationship with his pet, Gor, though it may be hard to notice, he genuinely loves and cares for the Roggwart.
While he was working as an enforcer for the InterGalactic Banking Clan, he developed a dislike for battle droids, whom he believes to be inadequate. After his final transformation into Grievous, that dislike multiplied. While he prides him self in being possibly one of the galaxy's more powerful individuals because of his position as the Supreme Commander, he feels as if fate, or the Separatists are mocking him with the title "Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies." If there is something he hates, it is to be called droid and if anyone is foolish enough to do so, he will harshly protest, often violently. He is known to frequently destroy droids in bursts of anger.
When commanding his troops, there is one thing that defines his style of leadership ; unpredictability. His methods are rather unorthodox and his tactics appear random, while they are in reality all carefully calculated to encourage misconceptions. His style of leading are also rather brutal, as he mercilessly breaks back his enemies morale and uses the Jedi's compassion against them by intentionally causing as many civilian deaths as possible.
He encourages the image people have of him as an avatar of terror and an invincible warrior. How ever, he is known to be a coward at times, running away when the tide turns against him, which is strange considering that he would prefer to get killed in action rather than dying of natural causes.
History: Although very few people know, the infamous cyborg General Grievous was once a man of flesh and blood, known as Qymaen jai Sheelal. Born on the war-torn and famine stricken planet of Kalee, sometime around 72 BBY, it was clear from an early age that Qymaen was destined to become a renowned warrior. Brought up during a great conflict known as the Huk War by the people of Kalee, Qymaen was taught how to handle a slugthrower by his father and the young warrior proved to be an excellent marksman.
By the age of eight he had become an expert sniper with a kill count of more than 40 to his credit, and by the age of twenty-two he had killed so many Huk, that the Kaleesh people considered him a demigod.
During this conflict with the Huk, he formed a friendship, which many believe to have been a romantic one, with a fellow Kaleesh warrior known as Ronderu lij Kummar. According to legend, his relationship with this wild and skilled swordswoman had its beginnings in a dream, in which Qymaen saw himself slaying a wild mumuu in the Kunbal jungle with Lig swords. So taken was he with this vision that he set out in his mumuu hunting mask to kill one in reality, but instead of finding a mumuu in the jungle, he saw Kummar. He realized that the slayer in his dream had not been himself, but the woman standing before him in a karabbac mask and wielding twin Lig swords.
The bond of the two seemingly invincible Kaleesh warriors, the deadly Qymaen jai Sheelal and Ronderu lij Kummar, was very strong, and they became partners in war against the Huk. Kummar taught Sheelal to wield a sword, and in turn he introduced her to the Czerka Outland rifle. Both clad in masks, Kummar with her karabbac skull and Sheelal with his mumuu skull—inherited from his father, who had died fighting the Huk—became legends, twin demigods blessed by their ancestors. Together they mercilessly cut through the Huk invaders in countless campaigns, raising their reputations to the level of demigods.
However, they were separated during one of their battles and Kummar was killed fighting the Huk on the beaches of the Jenuwaa Sea, which her body vanished into. Sheelal, unable even to retrieve her from the waters, was driven to despair and a horrible psychotic depression. Inconsolable, he set off on a dangerous journey across the ocean to Abesmi, an island-monolith far from the mainland. There, he beseeched the gods to raise her from her watery grave just so he might see her one final time; but the gods remained silent.
Sheelal did what he could to bury his grief. He ended up taking ten wives and siring thirty children, but none of them, spouse or child, seemed to be able to fill the void Kummar's death had left in him. Eventually, he realized that it was his destiny to mourn for her as long as he lived. With this realization, Qymaen jai Sheelal cast off his old identity, adopting a name more appropriate to a being destined to grieve forever, and, even more terribly, who was determined that he would not do so alone. He would be Grievous, as well as heart-broken, for the rest of his life.
Grievous surrounded himself with a legion of equally bloodthirsty and tortured handpicked "elite," known as the Izvoshra, and becoming an even more violent and rageful warlord, known as Khagan. Leading the brigades of the kolkpravis fighting force, Grievous massacred large numbers of Yam'rii in revenge, finally driving them from Kalee.
His bloodlust and thirst for revenge did not end with the planetary retreat, and Grievous led his warriors on a campaign on the Yam'rii colony worlds, decimating both military and civilian targets. He came as far as Tovarskl, his attacks and mass destruction of entire Huk planets had ensured Kaleesh victory until the Huks, using their connections with the Trade Federation, desperately petitioned the Republic for help.
The Senate inserted itself into the conflict and believed the Yam'rii's tall tales of the Kaleesh starting the conflict. Ruling on behalf of the Yam'rii, they dispatched a Jedi task force led by Masters T'chooka D'oon and Jmmaar to stop the war. The Republic leveled harsh sanctions and reparations against the Kaleesh for their aggression, and Kalee descended into economic devastation and poverty. Hundreds of thousands of Kaleesh starved and died. Grievous watched helplessly as his wives, offsprings and fellow people starved, suffered and slowly died, his hatred for the Republic was growing.
The arrival of San Hill, Chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, brought an opportunity to Grievous. Hill saw Grievous's potential as an IGBC "collections agent", and in exchange for his services, the Banking Clan offered to take on Kalee's massive debt, thus helping his people overcome the effects of the embargo. Having little choice, Grievous became an enforcer for the InterGalactic Banking Clan, which promised to help alleviate Kalee's plight in turn for his services. Grievous felt disgust at the notion of being a glorified leg-breaker for a soulless megacorporation, but he understood what the agreement would mean for his people, and besides, there was something in this innate warrior that needed to keep fighting—if not the Huk, then someone, somewhere. Eventually he agreed, taking command of the Clan's private army of droid enforcers.
The IGBC kept its promise, alleviating Kalee's deficit and resuscitating its trade. In exchange, Grievous became an extremely effective enforcer. It was through his efforts that the IGBC aggressively collected overdue credits from Ord Mantell and seized Phlut Design Systems when the company defaulted. But he found he missed the comforts of his former life—he wanted his old elite, the Izvoshra, but apart from himself, the Banking Clan would not hire Kaleesh. He would have to make do with droids, but, having no confidence in the IGBC's basic battle droids, he demanded more intelligent models to take the place of his elite. With Count Dooku's permission, Hill consented and began production on the IG-100 MagnaGuards. Grievous, at first, was disgusted with the droids because they were completely mindless. He soon demanded they be reprogrammed to watch him in combat and learn how to fight like his old comrades in his elite Huk-killing team several years before.
This agreement however, came to an end when Grievous learned that the Huk had vandalized sacred Kaleesh burial grounds on the colony worlds, and that the Republic had done nothing. This news reawakened his desire to act directly in defense of his people, so he abandoned his contract with the Banking Clan and returned to Kalee to avenge the desecration. San Hill was far from pleased. He considered ordering Grievous's assassination, but he feared the vengeance the Kaleesh would take if he survived. Instead, Hill conspired with Poggle the Lesser, the Archduke of Geonosis, and with their mutual allies, Darth Sidious and Count Dooku, to arrange Grievous' permanent servitude.
On Kalee, Grievous and his Izvoshra boarded his troop shuttle, Martyr. They set off to resume the Huk War, unaware that Dooku, Hill, and Poggle had planted an ion bomb aboard, and rigged Grievous' pilot seat to enable remote-guided ejection. The resulting explosion sent the Martyr plunging into the Jenuwaa Sea. Dooku's remote command ejected Grievous from the wreck at the last moment, but all his Izvoshra perished in the crash. His body, hemorrhaging and in shock, was dragged from the water, and Dooku used the arcane Sith heart stun technique to keep him from succumbing to cardiac arrest while en route to Geonosis. It was then that Dooku first planted the idea that the Jedi themselves were responsible for this attack in Grievous' mind. Then, MagnaGuards dragged him to a nearby shuttle, where FX-series medical assistant droids worked to stabilize his condition during the journey.
Told that his body has suffered injuries that rendered his body useless, while in reality his injuries weren't as severe and they had to be added up on after the crash to make it as broken as claimed. Dooku provided blood from the frozen body of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas as a means of keeping Grievous's body alive during his transit to Geonosis, where Poggle the Lesser and his Geonosian scientists implanted his brain and eyes into a duranium alloy body reminiscent of a Krath war droid, complete with LX-44 robotic legs. His vital organs were housed in a synthskin gut-sack impervious to vacuum. The Geonosians would also alter his brain against his wishes, both to trim away disturbing memories—while enhancing his rage centers—and to enhance his equilibrium, allowing him to better employ his newfound agility. Internal implants were also placed in his eyes to sharpen his vision and to protect them from the vacuum of space. While the midi-chlorian-rich blood of Sifo-Dyas may have played a critical role in maintaining Sheelal's life, Grievous saw it as a personal failure that the transfusion did not also give him a degree of sensitivity to the Force. To San Hill and his allies, however, the experiment was a phenomenal success. Qymaen jai Sheelal had become General Grievous in form as well as spirit.
Though taken aback by his appearance, Dooku was pleased, and bestowed upon Grievous the title "Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies," planning to use him in his efforts to conquer the Republic. He presented him with his first lightsaber, the weapon of Sifo-Dyas. From that point, Dooku personally trained Grievous to fight with lightsabers.
Grievous was disgusted by his new body and took his appointment as the Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies as an insult. Immediately after he was presented with Dyas' lightsaber, he slaughtered all the MagnaGuards in his presence in a defiant rage, exclaiming that he was not a droid, which Dooku had referred to him as. He further rebelled by openly displaying his Kaleesh heritage by adorning himself and his MagnaGuards with masks and cloaks in styles closely resembling those found amongst his people, considered by Dooku to be an act of vanity. Grievous, however, would soon come to highly respect both Dooku and Sidious, considering them necessary political leadership.
Grievous was present during the Battle of Geonosis, although he remained in the Geonosian catacombs where he was guarding the Seperatist Council and their escape routes. Grievous mercilessly slaughtered any enemies unfortunate enough to enter, Jedi and Clones alike. It was there where his collection of trophies Jedi trophies started.
He remained in the catacombs as long as he needed - until the Separatist leaders had made their escape - leaving no witnesses alive to tell of his existence. In reality, the Delta Squad had spotted him just as he entered his personal starfighter and made a run for it, but the members of the squad had failed to identify him. Grievous's existence remained a secret, just like he had wanted.
Impressed with Grievous's performance in the catacombs, Dooku continued to train him further in all forms of lightsaber combat. Already a brilliant warrior, having learned from his deceased lover prior during the Huk war, Grievous learned the art of fighting with a lightsaber at an alarming pace, quickly surpassing all other apprentices of Dooku in the terms of lightsaber combat.
Grievous has now started to take on a larger, more active role within the Confederacy. He lurks in the shadows, keeping his existence a secret from the Jedi as he commands the droid armies from the shadow, waiting for the right moment to reveal him self...
