A week had passed since that brief encounter in the Cantina between Jinn and the Jedi known as Noblesse. Jinn had done some research only to find out she was a council member, and a master, which made the Merc realise he would have been in a spot of bother if the fight went on longer than his opening gambit of brief force power to surprise her and get either a kill shot or start running.
That was why he didn’t like Jedi so much, they never showed directly how high up they were, they needed some form of colour coding system. Still he had heard back from the Jedi and it seemed she was going to keep her word. They just needed a meeting place and as Corellia had decided to pull from the ever growing war, this merc thought it was a better place to join, nice an neutral.
The message he sent was fairly brief, and not even a video, just co-ordinates for Corellia and the city, then which Cantina to meet in. Although he wanted to play it cautious he knew that telling a Master not to do something was like saying “Hey don’t push that big red button okay?” The long haired force trainee knew that she’d probably come alone.
That was unless she was desperate to appear to be attempting something, several Jedi appearing on a planet just after they decided not to take a side would be very foolish indeed. The week was nerve wrecking for Jinn, he didn’t want the Jedi to know he was trained a little in the force, and hoped they’d take the paranoia of Jinn having possibly met Yoda on Geonosis.
As he meditated for most of the time, when it came to the crunch of meeting up Jinn was clear headed and calm, and what most would call unbelievably charming. The cantina was suitable, it wasn’t what Jinn was used to, it was clean, the drinks they served were in fresh glasses. The music was new, there were no real bouncers to speak off and even the staff members were friendly.
It was unheard of that he would be seen; let alone meeting someone, in a up class place like this. However he ordered a drink and made his way to a booth in the corner, a bit out of the way so that those watching wouldn’t see a Jedi hand someone a pistol and presume the worst.

Alice fully did not expect the mans message to Master Yoda to be of anything useful; and on this account, she was correct. Very correct. It was but an advertisement (for himself... How cocky can you get), one that Yoda payed little heed to when played for the entire Council. He smiled and chuckled, dismissing it soon after it was done playing and quickly turned his attention back upon the current events that truly mattered. It was only after the Council had adjourned, however, that Yoda spoke more of the strange message in private with Alice, revealing this man to be one that be vaguely remembered being a part of the Jedi Order. As much as Alice wished to tell Master Yoda that he had to be incorrect, she had little grounds to tell him so. Many Jedi had left their ranks in recent years... Some had gone on to do more with themselves than others, but it was entirely plausible that someone could stoop to the level of mercenary work. The very thought saddened her though.
And thus, as promised, she had to return his Blaster to this individual. A promise was a promise, even if there really was no other reason to give it back him. Not when he would be using it to likely cut down his Jedi brethren...
Before she knew it, Alice was already en route to Correllia in her personal cruiser, her head swimming with random thoughts and ideas. It wasn't until she groped around her cockpit for the Blaster she had to return to him that she remembered that there was something upon the weapon he didn't want analyzed.. Something he didn't want the Jedi to know. Pale blue eyes ran over the weapon slowly, as if trying to scan it like a droid herself. It was certainly old; seen a lot of use, a lot of battles. The grip was well worn from sweat. Scuffs riddled the sides of the weapon. And sure enough, an engraving was barely noticeable beneath the starlight in her cockpit.
And that only confirmed it. He had at one point been a Jedi.
Why?
Many mysteries surrounded this, "Jinn". Mysteries that would be unraveled this very day.
Thoughts seemed to superseded time, as in what felt like the blink of an eye, Alice was already pushing through the doors to the loud cantina that Jinn requested they meet at. It was surprisingly clean for a cantina. Alice had been so accustomed to the dirty pits of filth that most scum ended up in, scattered across the shadier systems of the galaxy. This didn't appear to be one of them. Nevertheless, she still felt very, very out of place.
The moment she walked through the door, all eyes moved towards her. Her Jedi robes were as clear as day; making obvious to the few that dwelled within. Similarly, the glistening Clone armour tht accented her black robes protruded about her arms and legs, signalling her status as a Commander with the Grand Army of the Republic. As quickly as all eyes fell upon her however, they all diverted. Seemed nobody wanted to be caught staring a Jedi Master.
Icy blue eyes fell upon the back of Jinn, sitting alone in a booth not too far away. Alice sighed, slowly stepping towards him. So many questions, so many statements and idle thoughts. Each bubbling to the surface of her mind, popping and giving way to a new one.
"Jedi," she hissed, carefully sliding his precious weapon onto the table (the safety was of course, on). "You were once one of us, and now you turn your aims upon us? You have some explaining to do, Jinn Nialo." Alice seated herself down in the booth across from Jinn quickly, gloved hands laying flat upon the table between them. But the attention was not being drawn to her hands, but her eyes. An overwhelming sense of conviction had taken hold of them, a sense of focus that she had learned from Master Yoda that threatened to overwhelm most folk with but a gaze. A sense of conviction that few could resist.
If looks could kill, Jinn may very well have exploded in that moment. [/style][style= width: 200px; font-size: 09px; font-family: arial; padding: 5px; color: 6a6a6a;] thereisalieinperfection @ CAUTION 2.0 [/style]

There was an honest smile on his face as she sat down opposite him, one that only diminished slightly after she spoke to him like that, and for once his eyes went from warmth, or anger, to that of disappointment. Jinn took the gun and gave it a once or twice over, nothing was changed and slowly he put the weapon back into his holster. Although he looked to be the type who didn’t think much of anything, his mind was swimming with various ideas, and as he slowly straightened his neck, his hazel eyes warmed up a bit, and met her icy stare unafraid. Indeed if looks could have killed he would have exploded, but the gaze he met although not deadly would have cushioned most people’s killing stares.
A sigh left his body and slowly he said “Three things have either happened then, Yoda recognised me from the message, you had the gun scanned, or both….. Either way it does not matter, the offer remains.” he sat back in the seat and sized up Noblesse. The man hadn’t ordered a drink, and he waved his hand towards the bar for a couple of refreshments to be brought over. When his gaze did eventually drop to the table Jinn was speaking with a different tone than from before. One that seemed honest, not a front he had put up in the cantina before. “What do you want me to say Miss Noblesse? That I threw away everything that was given to me? I was stolen from my home, told I wasn’t allowed to feel anything for anyone, and after doing all that, and being passing every test they gave me with flying colours they put me in the agriculture section of the force…. The man sighed as if it still stung his pride, and that’s what it did, stung his pride.
The man was silent for a while and thought about how to word the rest of it. “You want to know what I do? I don’t hunt Jedi, nor do I hunt Sith, I let the force guide me, guide ME as a human, not as some no nonsense emotionless shell, nor as a fanatical megalomaniac that wants to dominate the galaxy. When I left the order, I saw the world for what it was, chaos….. And you can’t be emotionally dead if you want to balance that, so I let the force choose my jobs, let it guide me, and I do it with a smile as I know I’m doing my bit the way I’m meant to…. I refuse jobs straight up to assassinate Force users, or at least to the best of my knowledge, and I don’t go out my way to kill them in a fight, unless I have too. Geonosis being a perfect example….” He voice trailed off as he relived the explosions, the tremors in the force of hundreds akin to him dying, dying without knowing their own potential.
Hell even those in the arena, he didn’t see it but boy did he feel it, the man sighed heavily and as the drink arrived he stared into the froth at the top, then back up to her icy gaze with pure determination in his. “You want answers. I can’t give them, I do what I think is right. If you want to call me scum then do so, neither side of this war is without its own flaws, and when you’ve had the life I’ve lead, you’d know that….” The man leant back and pulled out his blaster, before going over it again, feeling each notch, each dent, each mark, and finally he rubbed his thumb over his own scratches, he was almost oblivious that she was even still there.

Perfectly calm. Perfectly deadly.
Alice's eyes were doing the talking now; in the moments that followed her heated words she quickly took in everything she could about the man, eager to learn as much as she can, even if he proved unwilling to divulge. His expression had calmed greatly; the need to hide his very being had diminished, seemingly bringing with it a reluctant sense of ease. The confidence, perhaps over-confidence, that played about his eyes had shrunk away into solemn contemplation. Shame? Defeat? His masks were peeling over, be it by her words, crushing gaze, or his own devices.
Alice did not stir.
"Three things have either happened then, Yoda recognized me from the message, you had the gun scanned, or both….. Either way it does not matter, the offer remains.” Alice snorted quietly, remaining otherwise stoic. Somehow, she got the impression he didn't truly understand the wealth of wisdom and power that was Yoda, be it because he refused to accept it or never truly got well acquainted with it. "Yoda recalled you. And I confirmed his memory personally when I picked up your Blaster." There was no need to lie. She had done what he asked - nobody had known of his Blaster, let alone been able to see it. "And as for your 'offer', I hope that you weren't seriously of the mind that the Council would take you up on this. Assuming we had need for mercenary work, assuming we couldn't go to our usual contacts, assuming we were desperate enough - we still wouldn't use someone who abandoned our order. Someone who supports or supported Count Dooku and the Confederacy."
She didn't so much as turn as drinks were brought to the table. Neither in need of refreshments, nor one to partake in such a kind, Alice payed no heed to them as they were laid out between the two of them. Her reaction was similar to the first portion of his speech. She could only sit in silent anguish, caught between emotion, justice, and how little they mattered in this point in time. All the lawys, customs and feelings in the world weren't her right to impose, not in this situation. It inspired within her a sort of helpless feeling that she did not care for, and yet could not argue with. And so for a moment they merely waited, mulling over his more down to earth sentiments.
And as he went on, things came a little more into view. One of the many Jedi who simply couldn't handle the strict regimentation of their lives, and desired a little more freedom or control over their life. While she understood the desire completely, it was obviously not a notion she shared. Their abilities required control. Still, Alice at least held respect where there was none before - however meager. "But..." Alice began slowly, her gaze lightening from its dominating state to something more inquisitive. "You were not our ally upon Geonosis, either. Do you hate us so much that you will stand idly by and watch us be slaughtered?" Disdain filled her eyes. Geonosis was a harrowing time for Alice; losing her friend and Padawan, Ra'zia, the scars will still healing. For someone who still follows their traditions to have done anything less than help..."You could have helped!" she hissed, fingers clenching together into fists. "You could have spared Jedi lives that day!" Frustrated as much with Jinn as she was with herself for her outburst, Alice's gaze shot to the side momentarily. "I have miss judged you, but only slightly."
"What if I said I have a contract for you," Alice spoke quietly this time, eyes slowly slipping back to line up with the man across from her. She questioned herself a thousand times a second for what she was considering - the Council wouldn't approve. And yet, it truly felt like the right thing to do. "You name your price for its completion. Would you hear what I have to say?" The man chuckled a bit, his laugh a little like it was before tones of happiness and being a generally jovial man came back as he picked up the drink and sipped it, his advert, he knew it wouldn’t go down well but he couldn’t make a private one for everyone he sent it too, and as such when she had finished he put the drink down slowly and placed his chin on his thumbs and gazed into her eyes, not put off by the harshness. “Miss Noblesse I realise the…. Add I sent would not have met the Jedi’s needs, for professionalism, but ask anyone I’ve worked for, the job gets done to the T. I don’t expect you to hire me, I don’t expect you to like me, I am who I am Miss, but in times of war, in times of need it’s often those you under estimate that give the best results….. The offer remains, whether or not the council approved of it or me.” His eyes seemed to flare up a bit, as if to challenge her opinion of him.
He ignored what she had said about him supporting the confederacy and Dooku, this merc although liking the sound of his voice at times disliked repeating it. A job was a job, a duty was his too keep, although once this Jedi had finished he tapped the table next to his drink gently thinking of how to say this. “Miss Jedi, although I felt every tremor of your brethren die, when I take a job I am duty bound to finish it, and my job at Geonosis was simply do not let his generals die. The only people that met their end by my guns were clones, which I disliked. But forced I will take a life if it needs be, and although you don’t like how I see things, people die, it’s what they do. Neither you, me, Yoda or even the force can stop death forever.” Although Jinn was regaining some of his social shielding in the way he spoke, and handled certain things, it was still very clear to anyone who had seen under his masks that he was speaking from the heart and that he whole heartedly meant what he said.
A sigh left his lips and he looked away, did he really hate the Jedi for trying to ignore his skills, did he really hate them for saying he wasn’t allowed to go further in training, once more he looked up after a minute of silence and stared right into her icy abyss she called eyes, with no fear and said “I do not hate the Jedi. There are few I hate, as I said I do my job to my ability, I take a little life as I can, but believe me when I say these two things. One, I am sorry about your friends on Geonosis, and understand me when I say, I could be where you are now, but no one would give me the chance, so I gave myself one, that is why I left Miss Noblesse.” His drink after that was taking another couple of gulps, his eyes barely left hers, he wasn’t afraid of her and his body was oddly relaxed for someone staring down an angry Jedi General, in a waging war, especially for one giving up his past so easily, he didn’t like speaking of it but it was nothing he would hide.
A chuckle came with the last few bursts from her lips, ones that everyone always asked, the why’s, the demands that he should have done something differently. “Indeed, I could have helped you, but I was hired by Dooku, and I personally did not take one Jedi life, the shots that I landed on those wearing cloaks were not fatal, but wounding, I never took one of their lives.” That much was true but he did see many of them die before him, someone always finished them, and perhaps if he wasn’t as good as he was those shots that did land would have killed them by mistake, at least then they wouldn’t have suffered before death.
Slowly the long haired Merc’s eyes drifted away to the floor for a brief second as he contemplated how he could have really changed Geonosis, for the most of it he couldn’t or so he thought, so why now was doubt entering his mind. When she offered that of a job, and to hear her out he slowly came back to meet her with a curious look about his eyes, and a cheeky smirk on his lips “If I wasn’t going to hear you out, my dear Jedi, would I have bought you a drink?” The mask was back up, somewhat, and he leaned back the confidence returned as he put one arm to rest across the back of the booth’s chair and the other bringing the drink up as he raised it to her, as if to say ‘give me your best offer’

And yet, the more he talked, the more uncomfortable she became with him. Unjustifiably so, but something about his arrogance, non-chalance, and ability to shrug off anything and everything just rubbed Alice entirely the wrong way.
His cocky smirk caused her nostrils to flare momentarily - the fact that she was actually going forward with this disgusted even herself. The discomfort was something she was able to hide from her physical appearance, but not her aura. "Very well. Off the record, I would like you to do anything in your power to get re-hired by Count Dooku. It's important that you become someone he trusts - at least enough to allow you get near him. You're not going to be paid to kill him." she added quickly, noting what it must have sounded like leading up to that. With a grimace, she continued, "All I want from you is information on what he's doing, where he's going, and who he's dealing with. I want him brought to a swift arrest... I want this war to end. And this is the only way." Alice slowly reached into her cloak with her right hand, eyes dropping to the table as she groped about the inside of her cloak. "Consider this encouragement," she added slowly, drawing her hand out of her pocket and placing five Credit chips upon the table, each worth one thousand Credits, "for your deed. I can pay you double this on the condition that Dooku is arrested, as well as see to your short term protection if you think you need it. And..." Alice paused, sighing and swallowing her pride a bit. This was the part that she didn't like, whatsoever, and yet it felt like the stimulation he may need to move forward. "I will also see if I can have records of you erased from the archives, if you so wish. You will be known only to those you wish, by those you wish, how you wish to be known. But please, if you can think of anything else, I'm willing to negotiate." Alice leaned back in her seat, her pitch completed. Fifteen thousand Republic Credits, protection if he felt he needed it, and the ability to be forgotton by those he clearly didn't want remembering him. Pretty fair deal considering he didn't even need to whip out his Blaster.
"You'll contact me through my personal frequency, 11871.19, when you're far from him and with something of importance. Real importance." There was no way he could know it, but very few were fortunate enough to have personal communications with her. That was something reserved for the Jedi Council, Captain Ghost, and her Padawan. "That's it. An excessive amount of credits for information. Do you think you can do this? For the Republic, for the Jedi, and for me?" she asked quietly, almost passive compared to the flare she had but moments ago. She had lost the desire to be over zealous with Jinn; he was set in his ways, and at the moment, beyond redemption in her eyes. And thus this meeting had to be kept to strictly business, exhuming all emotion and aspirations from her mind. "Do you accept?" The man sat before the Jedi and looked at her, a determined look and he almost flicked the credits back at her “First things first Jedi. You don’t know me well enough to get to speak to me with such distaste in offering me a job. So take your dirty money, I’ll do it for what could be considered less.” He knew she wouldn’t’ understand but the poison and distaste in her words were seeping through her voice like a kathhound in the middle of a barren plane.
Jinn sat for a moment, but this was a chance to get something done here, he knew this was incredibly dangerous, and he was actually going to do it anyway so he might as well get something out of it as such he gave a hefty sigh “I’ll take the job, I was going to do it anyway, but under tw- three conditions miss Jedi. Firstly, I would prefer to be taken off the record, secondly…. I want less of those insinuations and presumptions about me removed from how you speak to me, at least to my face….. And lastly, I’d like a crystal, not one of the training ones, an actual one. I have a few plans I need to take care of.” The last part was the one he knew he may need to negotiate, but she said she’d negotiate, so perhaps one of his many plans would be on it’s way.
For a mercenary he wasn’t exactly stupid, but for a man he was well hidden and slowly his masks were put back up, just to a lesser extent, the showboating and cockiness toned down substantially as he knew they’d get him nowhere, his body became still devoid of any ticks, or nervousness and slowly he was becoming less and less readable, other than his eyes. Those hazel eyes of his studying, always full of energy despite the lack of movement, he was calculating, examining, watching much like a predator would his prey.
With his offers given he sat back and relaxed a bit and said “I don’t expect you to understand how I see the Galaxy, nor treat me any differently, but there is no need for how you treat someone you do not know, those are my terms and consider the job done.” Slowly he raised his drink as if to say ‘to many more’ and took a sip, placing the drink down and letting out a sigh of relief, as if he was releasing a hard day’s work of stress.

Icy eyes raised slowly from the credits to those of Jinn, paying heed to his reformed demands.
She would have been a lot happier to just throw more credits at him.
Alice's eyes fell to the table in silent contemplation. A Lightsaber crystal... Even she didn't have anything more than the common Ilum crystal. Such a thing were nearly impossible to find (or rather, survive to tell the tale of) now days. But the fact that he was asking for something that even she did not have? Such audacity. However, realistically it was a more modest fee than the wealth he had tossed aside. "You could very easily take this money and buy yourself a rather rare crystal. You must know this better than I," she spoke slowly, balancing many thoughts at once and forcing most of them down, "So what you ask is not for me to get you a crystal; no, you are more than capable of doing that yourself. You request for me to do you a favor. I scratch your back, you scratch mine..." Everything made sense. This was a power struggle. Curious.
"It's certainly not conventional, though I suppose it's entirely justified. Fine, I will procure you a Lightsaber crystal as your reward for completion of this assignment. That is to say, I certainly can't justify giving you such a thing as collateral." Perhaps she'd be able to acquire one for herself as well. Who knows. It may even be fun. "I can, of course, ensure this mission is known to only you and I. I will see to eliminating what records of you linger within our halls as well, though I make no promises about that one." Destruction of data within the Jedi Archives was a dangerous, criminal process. She didn't even like thinking about it - as was reflected in her grimace as she spoke of it - but didn't think it unfair given the possible results.
"But I have every right to my own opinions of you, and my actions will reflect my opinions and feelings. If you wish for me to be utterly respectful towards you, I will chose to say nothing rather than risking compromising my word. Otherwise, you will be treated as all others; you must earn respect. So consider it another form of payment for your success." A Lightsaber Crystal. Becoming nothing but a memory to the Jedi. And the respect of one of the most complicated Jedi within the Order. Not a bad haul. Alice carefully slipped out of the booth, ironing down her robes and cloak until they lay flat against her body once more. "Be safe, Jinn Nialo. I don't want to be risking myself to get this Crystal only to have you wind up dead," she added sarcastically, her sights set upon the exit to the cantina not too far away. Heavy footfalls sounded as Alice took a pair of steps towards it, and paused.
"... May the Force be with you." Though her back was turned, Alice bowed momentarily before exiting the cantina, mildly humbled and severely agitated. [/style][style= width: 200px; font-size: 09px; font-family: arial; padding: 5px; color: 6a6a6a;] thereisalieinperfection @ CAUTION 2.0 [/style]

The force sensitive who had the mind to talk back to a master smiled, a warm smile as she more or less agreed and even chuckled at her sarcasm about him ending up dead, a lot of things had happened over the course of his life, a lot he put down to the force guiding him, and as she headed for the door the merc slowly get up and brought out some credits of his own, leaving a tip for the bar owner and the staff.
The hazel orbs watched her as she reached the door and he raised his voice for her “One more thing. Miss Noblesse, before you go” The thudding of him jogging to reach up with her as she reached the door, and slowly he strode out into the sunlight looking up and smiling as the warmth kissed his skin, the smile came down to her and he said calmly. “Before you go, I didn’t want your respect right away, as even I know that needs to be earned, nor did I want your opinion changed for this job, I simply didn’t like how you spoke, but I’m sure our future crystal escapade will change that too.” With a flick and a small ‘woosh’ of his long coat he turned and began to stride towards the star port.
He got roughly six foot away before he stopped and looked over his shoulder and raised a thumb up to her, as a sign of good will, from him at least and said “As I want to know where to get them as well, and may the force guide you to happiness.” that last part was how Jinn had decided he would reply to the old Jedi saying of ‘may the force be with you’ as even the teachings say that it is all around us, and as his own life had decided to show him that it guided him more than anything it seemed appropriate.
The cocky man turned back away, his smile staying on his face, it had gone better than he had expected, his eyes turned to the star port and his mind began to wander, he was now to go up to the biggest warmonger, and republic hater in the galaxy, and try to befriend him. ‘Count Dooky’ as he remembered calling him, a man who would kill him at even the hint of traitor, and not only did he simply disguise himself, he would have to get information, and for a un-specified time. This was going to be fun.
