Rutep Rigrib Male, 18, Jedi Order | Play-By: Garrett Hedlund Name: Rutep Rigrib Nicknames: N/A Age: 18 Sex: Male Species: Human Home World: Mon Gazza Faction: Jedi Order, Galactic Republic Title: Padawan Knighthood: N/A Rank: Jedi Specialist
Hair: His hair color ranges from light brown to sandy blonde color, cut short. It is naturally slightly wavy and tousled, but he usually messes it up intentionally to give it a more scruffy look. As is often customary among Jedi Padawans, he sports a small Padawan braid that hangs down from his hair behind his right ear. As for his facial hair, it appears to be much lighter in color than his hair and he often let‘s it grow a little bit because he finally can! Otherwise, he is sometimes just lazy and doesn‘t bother to shave. Eyes: His blue eyes seem to change color frequently depending on either his mood or the light they are put under. They usually range from deep sea blue, to gray or even light blue color. While he personally doesn‘t find his eyes anything special at all, he has been told on several occasions that his eyes are some what 'beautiful' though he fails to notice it him self. Body Shape: He is athletically built from his often intense Jedi training, and the physical workout he frequently engages in his own personal time has only added more muscle to his figure. That, however does not mean that his is by any chance some-what bulky in appearance and his body proportions are rather balanced. Height: 185 cm/6'1 Weight: 180 pounds Scars, Piercings, Tattoos: Like most people, he does sport a few relatively minor scars though none of them are worth of mentioning since they are nothing more than mere light marks in his skin, almost impossible to spot even at close range. Languages: Galactic Basic, Huttese (Spoken & Understood) and Binary. (Understood) Clothing and Armor: As he is a Jedi, he prefers to wear the standard Jedi Robes of the Jedi Order at all times. Though his wardrobe generally consists of enough variety for him to change into different colors as he pleases, he seems to prefer the darker colored Robes similar to the ones Anakin Skywalker frequently wears. Unless it would be more practical to wear anything different, he almost entirely wears a light gray shirt made of fairly thin material, with another thicker one made out of brown material and the finally the top layer consisting of an brown outer tunic with an attached black leather tabard, a brown cloth belt holding it together and then another belt made out of leather. As for his lower body, he wears dark pants matching the color of his tunic with black boots made out of leather. Over that he wears a dark brown cloak with a deep cloak that gives him some what of a mystic appearance.
Overall his every day wear offer little to no protection, but they do not hinder his movements, thus allowing him to move more flexibility and be agile when he is engaged in combat. Weaponry: He only carries his lightsaber around, attached to his belt on his right side. Though all lightsabers are personally built by each Jedi, it appears to be very typical in design and there are no notable features that distinct it from other mainstream lightsabers. The hilt is of standard design and is approximately 20 centimeter long. It‘s color scheme is metallic light gray and black, with a red button to ignite and turn off the saber. The hilt stores a green colored, standard Ilum crystal that generates a green blade.
Resources: Being a Jedi, or hoping to become one at least, he doesn't possess any physical belongings outside of his lightsaber and the clothes he's wearing. His home is the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and every time he needs a ship to travel between places, he is assigned one belonging to the Order.
He might occasionally come across a few credits every once in a while and when that happens, he usually preserves them in case he's going to absolutely need to buy something because of his mission. When ever he comes across any considerable amount of money or when he feels like he has more than he absolutely needs, he either voluntarily hands them over to the Jedi Order or donates them to some charity he likes.
Appearance: Rutep Rigrib is slightly above the average human height, standing at six feet one inches and he weights approximately 180 pounds. His physical condition is what most people would expect of a Padawan aspiring to become a Jedi Knight ; his frame is some what lean, but he is athletical, well built from the often intense training he undertakes. Combine that with his regular physical training to keep him self in shape, as well as the fact that job of a Jedi can be very physically demanding and he has most certainly put on some little bit of muscle.
His facial features and skin colour are Caucasian and his hair ranges from either light brown to sandy blonde colour, while his eyes are either blue, gray or even light green depending on the light they are put under, or even his mood. Some people call his eyes beautifull, but to him they are nothing more than just his eyes and he considers them to be exactly like the eyes of everyone else.
He usually tends to keep his hair cut short, intentionally making it look some what scruffy in the process to give him a little bit of a rebellious look. It hasn‘t been long since he gained the ability to let his facial hair grow to any level worthy of mentioning, so he usually let‘s it grow a little bit because he‘s enjoying being able to, either trimming it or shaving every couple of days. The color of his facial hair is the same as his hair, though the blond elements are much more noticeable there.
Physically, he has always grown and matured rather fast, often surprising people since they tend to believe that he is a few years older than he actually is. While this can enable him to pose as an older person, it sometimes has been a matter of embarressment for him and created countless of awkward situations where people misjudge him by his looks, as his mental growth as well as abilities didn‘t develope as fast as he did physically.
When it comes to clothing, he almost entirely wears a light gray shirt made of fairly thin material, with another thicker one made out of brown material and the finally the top layer consisting of an brown outer tunic with an attached black leather tabard, a brown cloth belt holding it together and then another belt made out of leather. As for his lower body, he wears dark pants matching the color of his tunic with black boots made out of leather. Over that he wears a dark brown cloak with a deep cloak that gives him some what of a mystic appearance.
To most people, he generally appears to be a rather loud, outgoing person that sometimes sticks out in the crowd since he isn't afraid to voice his own opinions on the matters, often defying and arguing with his superiors and fellow Jedi. Despite that, he's not constantly a 24/7 loudmouth and he can also be a very laid back person to chill with. In fact, he has the ability to appear on the outside as if he's keeping his cool in hopeless situations, though force sensitives may be able to sense otherwise. The way other people perceive him, greatly varies depending on their personality. While many, especially the more senior Jedi are on the edge when ever he's around, the younger ones often find his presence and lighthearted personality to be some what soothing in this time of war.
As for his looks, not many would call him an ugly person. Quite the opposite, he's often said to be growing into a handsome young man who, excluding his tousled and some what unkept hair and facial hair, is described as taking great care to appear visually appealing. Strengths: Force Potential : Even though he was born to a family with little to no connection with the force, the force flows strongly through him and he can tap into it with ease. Making him a rather promising pupil of the Jedi Order. Promising duelist : Although he doesn't rival the Order's most brightest stars when it comes to dueling, he can certainly hold out on his own for short period of time and he has shown great progress in relatively short time in the past. Sociable : If there is anything that comes very natural to Rutep, it is to talk to people. He is anything but shy, which has defined his personality to a great extent and he finds it easy to befriend with people. Confident : It matters very little in what situation he is in. If there's anything his previous Masters have managed to teach him, it is that panicking isn't going to solve anything and will only make things even more difficult than they already are. Thus he keeps his cool in hot situations and tries his best to remain calm so he can think clearly. Valiant : To Rutep, the lives of other people matter as much or even more to him than his own. He's in all ways the good guy type ready to help his friends, fellow Jedi and even random civilians even if it means putting his life into grave danger. Marksman : Being a rather mediocre pilot, he has always preferred to man the guns when he is flying anywhere. Over time he has developed some what of a skill which has then extended into guns in general, although he hasn't even discovered this him self. Weaknesses: Unmotivated: Despite the fact that he is relatively strong in the force, he hasn't progressed as much as he should have, since he tends to consider many aspects of the force useless and serve no purpose when it comes to the job of protecting the people of the galaxy. Academic studies: When ever it came to the academic type classes such as political science, history, biology and such he rarely bothered paying much attention to the teacher and rarely studied more than was absolutely necessary for him to know. As such, he lacks a lot of knowledge and may even appear stupid at times, which he isn't. In other words, he's lazy and doesn't enjoy reading and studying in general. Reckless: Although a promising duelist, he has a tendency of using moves that are out of his league, often putting him into a lot of danger if he's going up against more advanced duelists. Also, this generally applies for his overall strategies as he some times rushes into situations without thinking it completely through. Outgoing : While most people wouldn't consider his social confidence to be a bad thing, he can at times be downright annoying. This especially applies to dangerous situations, where he might constantly be throwing comedic remarks around, while they are completely out of place. Flight : Even though he knows how to and can fly a ship, he prefers to avoid so because he's simply has never really been allowed to learn how to do so properly and thus isn't particularly good at it. He generally feels more comfortable when other people are piloting but he can't help but feel some what uncomfortable in the emptiness of the space. This how ever doesn't apply to ground based vehicles and he doesn't feel nearly as bad when the ships are flying within the atmosphere. Computers & Droids : Neither bad nor good when it comes to repairing or reconstructing most objects, computers, droids and other things with programming are a very noteworthy exception to that. He's so bad with computers that some times it can take him ages to even turn on a holographic generator and other simple technological utilities. This has led to some what of a dislike for droids, since he doesn't like their often some what limited personality. Goals: 1. Become a fully fledged Jedi Knight 2. End the Separatist Crisis 3. Develop his lightsaber skills and control over the force 4. Become a better pilot and over come his fear of space 5. Learn how to properly use technology Fears: 1. Death of his friends and allies 2. Vacuum of space 3. Space combat 4. Separatist victory 5. Getting kicked out of the Jedi Order Personality: If there is anything that really defines Rutep's personality, it's his light hearted and often out of place humor. It doesn't change whether he's socializing with his peers, seniors or even in the middle of a battle, he's almost always trying to bring everyone's mood up by all means necessary. Whether he's actually likable or funny, is left to others to judge. In other more casual situations, he's a very laid back and relaxed personality that tends to find it easy to socialize and befriend with other people and he has always been some what popular among his peers. In battle, some people have found his presence to be some what relieving.
Despite that, he's an overly reckless Jedi when it comes to fighting. He some times jumps into situations without a second thought, or without a thought at all. Placing the lives of other people above his own, he is all too willing to throw his life away by sacrificing him self to save them.
As a hopeful Jedi, he firmly believes it's his job to protect the people of the galaxy from the forces of evil and corruption. How ever, despite the recent events, he doesn't seem to realize the pain and the destruction that comes with war. He genuinely believes that the Jedi should act out as aggressive warriors against the Confederacy, which he sees as the galaxies ultimate villains for the time being. His political view of the whole situation is rather narrow and he tends to see things black and white, evil or good.
When it comes to the force, he is constantly questioning it's purpose and the Jedi perspective of it. He has been taught his entire life that the force is supposedly either good or bad but he finds it hard to believe. To him, it appears as more of a tool to be used in the service of others, than some mysterious entity that is either good or bad. The doubts he has about the various perspectives of the forces is a result of him being trained by more than one Master, with completely different life philosophies and ways of dealing with the force. History:Rutep Rigrib was born on the violent, underdeveloped poverty stricken spice mining world of Mon Gazza, as the ninth out of eleven children of Helvi and Inaga Rigrib. Rutep's family originated from Coruscant some two hundred years ago, when his ancestors arrived as the representatives of a major spice mining corporation, tasked with administrating their operations. It was the beginning of the fall of the prominent family.
Though they started out well, one backlash lead to another and eventually the Rigribs's were held responsible for a catastrophic failure of the mining operations and fired. They had put their everything into saving the company and failed, resulting in their total economic failure overnight. Bankrupt, the family was thrown onto the streets and had to face the fact that they would never be able to afford to even return to their home world. A few centuries later, the family still lived in poverty in the slums of Miner's Town, though they were by now greatly mixed with colonists of various other origins and referred them selves to as Mon Gazzans.
It was by pure coincidence that Rutep was discovered by the Jedi when he was two years old. A pair of Jedi, a Master and a Padawan had been on a wild goose chase with a wanted smuggler all over the galaxy when they eventually managed to find him in the shadowport of Mon Gazza. While running after the said criminal, the Padawan stumbled upon a large, poor but proud family in the slums. Sensing that one of the children must be force sensitive, he took a note of the location and informed his master once they had finished their mission by apprehending the criminal approximately two days later.
After informing the Jedi Temple, they received instructions to find out whether the child was force sensitive and if that was the case, convince the parents to let go of it and bring it with them to Coruscant. It didn't take them long to convince Rutep's parents to let go of him, knowing that not only would he have a better future, but also it would mean they could give the rest of the children more to eat. And so his career within the Jedi Order began.
Rutep's first years within the Jedi Order were relatively traditional. Upon arriving, the toddler was cared for by the Jedi fosterers once old enough to begin the formal Jedi education as an initiate. Thus, around the age of five he was placed in the Bear Clan. As is customary, he stayed with his clan both day and night, while sleeping, eating and studying. The studies consisted of many different subjects, including force studies, basic lightsaber training and political science. Along with that, there were mandatory meditation sessions five times a day.
While Rutep did brilliantly in all subjects, it became apparent early on that he lacked the interest in the more academic subjects and he often spent his time day dreaming and hoping that these sessions would end faster. How ever when it came to the force related studies where he was allowed to directly influence things around him, he progressed relatively fast.
As a counter measure to his unwillingness to study, the initiate developed a habit of being loud, much to his teachers dismay but it in turn enabled him to befriend with his peers quickly. He became very popular among them and he became very confident in him self in social situations, which gratually expanded and eventually he was overall a very confident person, regardless of what situation he's in.
These years passed fast for Rutep and the next thing he knew, he was nearing the end of his adolescence. By the age of eleven, he had caught the attention of an aging Jedi Master named Id Sarran. Initially, the old Jedi Master was advised against training a Padawan because of his age, or at least choose another one, more laid back and calm. Sarran how ever refused and explained that it was exactly the reason why he wanted to be Rutep's Master.
Their first months as a Master and Padawan duo was far from easy. As a child, Sarran had always been a very introspective and eager to learn more and more about the world, especially the force. He didn't make friends among his peers but rather spent all his free time in the Jedi archives, reading history, social science and studying politics. Eventually he became a Jedi Consular and had trained three Padawans to knighthood by the time he decided to take Rutep as his apprentice. After decades up on decades, he had built up an immense amount of wisdom and knowledge. Rutep on the other hand was his complete opposite and much more difficult to handle than his previous apprentices.
Since their characteristics and personalities were so different, some of the other Jedi at the Temple called them "yin & yang." While Rutep craved for adventure and couldn't wait for the moment when he'd be allowed to construct his lightsaber, Sarran was an old, fragile man beyond the age fit for physically demanding missions.
All they did for their first few months was to either embark on diplomatic missions of little significance or stay at the Temple doing researches on behalf of the Jedi Order. Needless to say, this was completely the opposite of what Rutep had expected it to be like and he was bored to near-death most of the time.
Rather than developing his apprentices force powers further, Sarran chose to have him meditate, think on philosophical matters and catch up on what he was lacking in history and political science studies. About ten months later, he finally convinced Sarran to take him to Ilum and let him create his first real lightsaber. It didn't take Rutep long time to construct the lightsaber, just the way he had pictured him self doing it countless times already. Sarran how ever, didn't stop tormenting his Padawan there since it took a few more months before he was convinced to actually teach him to use it further. Eventually he how ever showed him the basics of Niman, which he personally favored and young Rutep used most of his free time to train with his new lightsaber.
This Mater-Padwan relationship was rather stormy and on the surface, the pair appeared to be constantly at odds with each other and people felt sorry for the poor old man for having to endure such a difficult teenager, but in reality they grew very close to each other and over time, Rutep slowly started to calm down and some what embrace Sarran's philosophical ways.
One of the last missions they had together was when Rutep was fourteen, but nearing fifteen. What had originally started as a simple diplomatic mission to two outer-rim worlds who had reached a stalemate in a meaningless conflict, turned out to be an ambush. Sarran and Rigrib barely escaped off the planet, only to be caught up in a blockade just outside it's atmosphere. After a briefly taking a part in the ensuing space battle between the combating forces, their ship was disabled and they found themselves as sitting ducks, waiting for their fates to come.
They spent hours in dead space as their life supports slowly started to fail, but luckily they were eventually rescued. Although they had survived this trial, it became the source of many nightmares for Rigrib and it has caused him to fear the vacuum of space as well as be generally afraid of space travel since he fears he'll find him self again sitting in dead space.
Their partnership eventually came to an abrupt end four years later, when Sarran died in his sleep of natural causes. Thinking of the various stories he had heard of legendary Jedi heroically dying in battle, Rutep couldn't believe or accept the fact that his Master's heart had simply stopped beating.
Having lost his Master, the Padawan grieved him for weeks and feared for his future within the Jedi Order. Without a Master, he couldn't advance and become a full Jedi Knight. How ever, he didn't have to wait for long for his second Master. Expecting another near-dead bookworm, it would be an understatement to say that Rutep was surprised when he met Nako Kivle, a recently promoted Jedi Knight virtually booming with energy. The two Masters couldn't have been more different, Kivle and Rutep on the other hand, had matching personalities. Both were reckless, all too eager to rush into situations and preferred fast paced, more violent orientated missions.
His life now took a sharp turn into a completely different direction, with his previous Master's teachings often contradicting with his new Master's. Because of the much smaller difference in age, with his Master only about seven years older, they formed a very close brotherly relationship as they toured around the galaxy for the next three years, waving their lightsabers around before asking questions.
Although he was truly saddened by his former Master's death, this new turn of events made him feel as if he had been freed. He could now practice the ways of the force and above all, develop his skills with a lightsaber much more quickly as Kivle was a considerably much more liberal Jedi when it came to the ways of the Jedi. Kivle, while a fairly powerful Jedi, was a guardian aspiring to become one of the Order's greatest duelists which lead to him some what neglecting force training while favoring lightsaber combat training. Although Rutep wasn't all that pleased at first with the heavy emphasis he put on lightsabers, he eventually came to embrace his ways and the effects of this are very clear in his personality, as he now favors the lightsaber in place of diplomacy and heavy use of force powers. Since neither of them had ever really learned the art of mechanics, they were highly depending on having other people taking care of fixing their vehicles. Due to this, neither of them particularly liked space travel and they always avoided space combat as much as they could.
For the next few years they became well known within the Jedi Order for their rebellious behavior and they were constantly at odds with the Jedi High Council, as their missions seemed to often end some what violently. Believing them to be on a dangerous path of the dark side, they started assigning them to less and less dangerous missions and tried to keep them as long as possible within the Temple, as they tried to keep them from eventually harming them selves. For a year and a half, they were practically stuck within the Core region doing minor work such as assisting local law enforcement, chasing high profile criminals, doing some detective work, acting as bodyguards and escorts to important Republic individuals.
Though they didn't really voice their opinions on this, they knew better than going against the High Council this time, knowing that they had crossed the line too many times by now. How ever, in the year 13 aRS (22 BBY), Nako and Rutep had just recently returned from a mission when they were asked to join a task force of some hundreds Jedi being put together by Masters Windu in order to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. The ensuing battle was harsh and claimed the lives of several Jedi. Nako and Rutep who were among the few survivors, started preparing for what they had been waiting for - a conflict.
The ensuing battle how ever, did not go as glamorously as either of them had thought. Countless of their Jedi brethren perished in the fight, with Nako among the dead. Emotionally broken from the loss of his second master, Rutep became a mere shell of what he had been like, withdrawing him self from most social encounters as he waits in the Jedi Temple on Corscant - waiting for answers, waiting for his future.

Clothing and Armor - Need to add a [*/blockquote] to the end of that section. Tag sticking out.
Appearance - Try to flush out the last sentence a little more. How others perceive him is very important.
Strengths / Weaknesses - By the standards you've set yourself, I consider these rather weak. They're all quite basic. Dig deeper! Find his true flaws, ones unique to him. There must be more to him than this.
Fears / Goals - See above.
Lightsaber Crystal - While there's nothing particularly fancy about an Adegen crystal, all Jedi are commissioned Ilum crystals, no exceptions. Thus, if he is to have an Adegan, there must be justification somewhere in his history for its possession. Alternatively, you can just switch to an Ilum.
History - I'd like to see more about his later life. Specifically about the lessons learned that developed his fears, goals, weaknesses and strengths; his entire personality. There isn't much of a relationship between his history and these traits.
Similarly, I'd also like to see some elaboration upon how and/or why he's got the skills, or fondness for them at least, that he does. Why does he favor the Lightsaber? Why does he know Battlemind?
