The Force Powers and Combat Forms of a Sith make up much of their skills, and reflect much of their training with the Sith Lords. As such, it's very necessary to make sure that these are accurately graded on your profile.
On Knightfall, we use a tiered system of power and form rankings, in which one needs to achieve a specific rank in an ability to move up to the next. Each represents a greater level of understanding and potency with the ability, reflecting the training and dedication the user has towards the power. Similarly, many powers will require you have others at specific ranks as a requisite. This reflects how many powers are very related to each other, and how some build off of skills gained with the knowledge of a more basic form.
Unaware
Any power that a character has the power to use, but not the knowledge that they could use it, is considered 'unaware'. This is used specifically for inborn, powerful abilities that have not been recognized yet, such as Bastila Shan before she was aware of her ability to use Battle Meditation, or a Nightsister who grew up away from her people, thus not learning the art of Force Imbue but still possessing the innate skills. Abilities in this state are rare, and require approval from the Sith Moderator.
Recognized
A power that is recognized is one that the character knows they have the potential to use, but does not possess the power to do so at the moment. This may reflect one reading and possessing the knowledge of the skill, but not yet having practiced with it enough for it to manifest in any tangible form. This state applies only to abilities that were once in the Unaware state, and nothing else.
Apprentice
A power of the apprentice rank is one that someone has begun to learn. At this rank, they are still learning this ability from another, preferably a Master. While they can apply the power on their own, they aren't very formidable with it quite yet.
Acolyte
A power at this rank is one that someone has learned almost everything they can from another. There is little need to practice this skill with a Master any longer, as the user is capable of applying the skill on their own with little trouble. They are considered skilled enough with the skill to be using it upon others, should the need be, though the user still has much to learn on their own about the application of the skill.
Expert
A power at this rank is one that someone knows the finer art of, and can demonstrate the ability to great success in most applications. They are considered by many to be an Expert in the skill, and are able to teach those with little knowledge in it the basics of it (up to the apprentice rank). An Expert rank skill reflects the users devoted affinity for the ability, and reflects upon them, as a Sith . Such skills are potent when used at this rank, often devastating when used properly.
Master
A power at this rank is one that someone knows just about everything about. They are considered a Master of this skill by most, and are able to teach anyone a respectable amount about the skill (up to the acolyte rank). Mastery of a skill does not come easily, and is usually the product of many years of devoted practice to the skill. When one has Mastered a skill, its application is often overwhelming and terrifying to be on the receiving end of, or inspiring to bear witness to. These abilities are hard to counter or defeat.

An important part of your character is the growth that happens as they train and experience the galaxy. Much of this will be reflected in the Force Powers and Lightsaber Forms. As such, this is the system Star Wars: Knightfall has created to allow members to rank up abilities, as well as determine how many abilities, at what ranks, they will possess upon starting.
Acolyte
At the point they are treated as having Form I: Shii-Cho at Apprentice level, as well as their 'Core Powers' at Apprentice level. This reflects the basic training that an Acolyte get while learning the most primitive of Sith teachings. At this point, they begin learning from those around them, and their skills will reflect that. During their time as an Acolyte, one can only learn skills that their Sith Lords possess, unless for a very rare reason an Acolyte is learning from someone else.
Over the years of their training, an Acolyte is taught Form II: Makashi, as well as learning four Universal powers from their Sith Lords (or two Dark side powers, or some combination there of). These all begin at the Apprentice rank. Similarly, over the years of their progress, an Acolyte is allowed to rank up any three skills (forms or powers) one rank, to the Acolyte rank. An Acolyte cannot learn more forms than this, nor more powers than this, nor have more Acolyte powers than this. - Can only learn skills of their Lords
- Begin with Form I and Core Powers at Apprentice
- Learn Form II, four Universal / two Dark side powers
- Rank up three skills to Acolyte
- Cannot learn Advanced powers
- Cannot learn or rank up Restricted abilities
Adept
When an Acolyte reaches Adept, they immediately add skills and ranks based upon their chosen Specialization. From this point on, an Adept is responsible for their own training, and is not limited to any Sith Lord for training. They are able to pursue anything they have knowledge of, and continue training on their own time. An Adept cannot advance a skill to Master rank without the permission of the Sith Moderator. One who selects no Specialization simply selects one of their choice.
A Marauder adds;- Two Forms at Apprentice level
- Two ranks in two separate Forms
- Two Universal powers OR one Dark side power at Apprentice Rank
- One rank in one power
An Inquisitor adds;- One Form at Apprentice level OR one rank in one Form
- Four Universal powers OR two Dark side powers
- Two ranks in two separate powers
An Assassin adds;- One Form at Apprentice level
- One rank in one Form
- Four Universal powers OR two Dark side powers
- One rank in one power
At this point, an Adept learns skills and ranks up based upon the amount of time they spend training. This is used more to calculate how many skills or ranks a character has based upon the years they spend training.- One form at Apprentice rank per year
- Two Universal powers at Apprentice rank per year
- One Dark side power at Apprentice rank per year
- Two ranks in any Apprentice rank skill per year
- One rank in an Acolyte rank skill per year
- One rank in an Expert rank skill per two years
Lord
The two Sith Lords receive additional ranks and skills based upon their chosen Specialization. Once again, if none were selected, they select whichever they desire. In addition to this, a Lord need not ask for permission to rank a skill up to Master rank. Otherwise, they add ranks or skill just as an Adept does does. - A Marauder adds two ranks divided between two Forms
- An Inquisitor adds two ranks divided between two Powers
- An Assassin adds two ranks divided as they choose between two different skills.
