Originally formed as a philosophical study group on the planet Tython, the Jedi quickly became revered as guardians of peace and justice through-out the galaxy. Their incredible powers and daunting Lightsabers inspired the galaxy. The calm, considered demeanor of the Jedi made them ideal for mediating conflict or dispute, and protecting the peace. Still, the Jedi were few. Their efforts and abilities gave rise to numerous enemies, most notably of which being the Sith. These dark warriors were the moral opposite of the Jedi, and their differences threatened the galaxy more than once.
The way of the Jedi had become the way of wisdom and patience, backed by swift and deliberate actions if pressed. However, the Jedi Council occasionally showed a lack of decisiveness, such as during the Mandalorian Wars. Their inaction drove Revan to fight back, and eventually brought about the Jedi Civil War. To the rest of the galaxy, the line between Jedi and Sith had muddied, both sides were blamed for the destruction caused on worlds such as Katarr, Telos IV, and Dantooine.
