Wookieepedia has provided a lot of ships but little information for some of them. Therefore, given here is the more detailed and most used ships of the Clone Wars in the Navy. Some are missed out due to lack of information, but others are missed due to their non-existence at this time in the history.
Space Stations
Galactic Republic Space Station
This space station is located in the Tobali System and is used as a staging area and command post with facilities large enough to handle an influx of starfighters and capital ships. Little is known of the layout of this space station, except that it houses a sizeable holoprojection chamber.
Haven-Class Medical Station
These are more commonly known as the Republic Medical Stations and are a model of space station used as space medcenters. 20 in all are commissioned for the Grand Army of the Republic, one for each of its Sector Armies and are capable of treating nearly 80,000 patients. They typical station has a reactor slung underneath, port entrances for Pelta-class medical frigates and 8 main medical bays. They are highly vulnerable and are dependent on other spacecraft to aid in fending off attackers. Notable stations of this type are;
Kaliida Shoals Medical Center
This is located near the Naboo System. The control hub is located in a tower at the top of the structure, while the eight main medical bays (filled with bacta tanks) cover much of the interior. Each medical station has a vertical gap for accommodating a Republic Medical Frigate. It is painted in the characteristic red stripes of other Republic vessels. It receives injured clone troopers, who are treated by the staff, and include the empathic Kaminoan doctor Nala Se.
Ord Cestus Medical Station
This station is very similar to the Kaliida Shoals Medical Center but is located near the planet Ord Cestus.
Felucia Medical Center
This station is similar to the aforementioned stations but is located near Felucia.
Battleships
Corellian Warship
These vessels are larger and more powerful than the Acclamator-class assault ships, but they do not have trans-galactic hyperdrive capability so they are limited to localized conflicts. They are several kilometres long.
Humbarine Warship
The description of these is the same as above. Both types of ship were used before the Clone Wars as planet defences, but now both planets have allowed their sector defence navy to be part of the Republic Military and be organized under the Republic’s War Council.
Mandator I-class Star Dreadnaught
This is a multi-mile long warship in the Star Destroyer design family. It has a main reactor large enough to protrude from the belly of the ship and equipped with a limited-range hyperdrive that restricts it from transgalactic travel. These have been used since 39BBY.
Mandator II-class Star Dreadnaught
This is a new powerful vessel that has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the Clone Wars, able to withstand an assault of up to 1,000 of warships such as Separatist Recusant-class light destroyers. As such, the vessel carries reactor equipment large enough to force the length of its hull up to a magnitude of at least 8km. It is far larger and more heavily armed than the Venator-class Star Destroyer and is produced in fewer numbers than the common Jedi cruiser.
Battlecruisers
Praetor-class Star Battlecruiser
A large and powerful warship, the reactor systems on these more powerful than those of the Imperial class Star destroyers, the class itself being larger in size than contemporary Star Destroyers being designated a Star Battlecruiser.
Procurator-class Star Battlecruiser
This is a warship in the Star Destroyer design family, over three miles in length. Its reactor is large enough, relative to the rest of the ship, to be visible from outside the hull. It protrudes with a ventral bulb. Despite being a heavy warship, it is only equipped with a limited-range hyperdrive, which prevents it from transgalactic travel.
Destroyers and Cruisers
Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser
This is a type of capital ship built for planetary occupation and space combat. The keep of the Dreadnaught-class runs at nearly 600 meters with the bow overlapping to produce a clamshell-like appearance. Each vessel has a cluster of weapons blisters spread across the hull. It is designated as a heavy cruiser in standard classification, and is considered a downscaled warship when compared to ship designs from the Core. The forward ventral portion of the Dreadnaught-class is used as a massive cargo hold, with a docking port located at the bow of the ship. Additional cargo holds are situated towards the centre of the ship, in front of the areas housing the main reactor and secondary power generators. Docking ports are also located on either side of the ship. Unlike many contemporary warship designs, this ship does not have an easily visible bridge section, opting to shelter the command decks and crew stations inside the main armoured superstructure. These areas are located on the dorsal side of the bow.
Weapons systems include twenty quad laser cannons (six bow, seven port, seven starboard), ten laser cannons (five port, five starboard and mounted in blisters) and ten turbolaser batteries (five bow, five stern.) Deflector shield projectors are also located inside some of the blisters flanking the hull, and the primary and secondary sensor transceivers are located towards the stern of the vessel, on the dorsal and ventral sides. It does however lack sublight and hyperspace speeds (being a Class 4 rating), suffers computer failures and cannot compete with comparable designs in terms of firepower and shielding. Between three and five Dreadnaught-class cruisers can outgun one Imperial-class Star Destroyer.
In addition to the technical drawbacks of this ship, it also requires 16,000 crew members to run at optimal performance – the highest crew per keep meter ration of any modern starship. This high crew requirement puts strains on recruitment efforts and turns supplying a Dreadnaught into a logistical nightmare. Also, while the initial design was not focused towards carrier duty, they have recently been upgraded and refitted, the centre cargo holds being converted to hangar space.
Due to the fact the more advanced assault ships and Star Destroyers are reserved for Clone Crews and highly dedicated Republic Officers, the planetary security forces and volunteer militaries of the Republic make heavy use of the Dreadnaught-class.
Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser
This is a cylindrical-shaped, 2,011 meter long warship armed with six concussion missile tubes, twelve turbolaser cannons, thirty quad laser cannons and six tractor beam projectors. It has a class 4.0 hyperdrive and shielding. It requires 23,014 crewmen and 114 gunners to function fully, with a minimum crew of 12,795 required to make it run. It can passenger 6,000 soldiers and has a cargo capacity of 700 metric tonnes, and space to store a year’s worth of consumables. They are cheap to acquire and simple to operate and combine an atmospheric manoeuvrings capability with the ability to deploy a relatively large force of ground troops.
Tector-Class Star Destroyer
This is a 1.6 kilometer long dagger-shaped vessel, with ventral hangars absent. Instead of these ventral hangar bays, the design opts for an increase in armor that covers the areas normally used as main hanger openings, as well as the reactor core. This makes the design more efficient in ship-to-ship combat, as it has less access to internal weak spots. However it limits is usefulness in other roles, such as being without hangers, it requires dedicated carriers to provide any starfighter support.
Thranta-Class Star Destroyer
This ship is developed on Alderann by the Alderaan Royal Engineers. It is 350 meters in length, with a class 1.5 hyperdrive. It has shielding equipped, five heavy turbolaser batteries, 4 heavy ion cannons, and 10 Heavy laser cannons. It is a light cruiser, crewed by droids and can hold no passengers but does have a 2000 metric ton cargo capacity.
Venator-Class Star Destroyer
Also known as the Republic Attack Cruiser, it is one of the capital ships used extensively by our Galactic Republic. It is 1,137 meters long, one of the largest capital ships capable of atmospheric operations, and can land on planets to load and unload troops and vehicles. It is born from the success of the Acclamator-class assault ship and is designed for the purpose of serving as a medium-sized, versatile multi-role warship.
It is designed primarily for ship to ship combat, but as secondary roles ranging from starfighter carrier to military transport and battleship escort. The expanded carrier role makes the Venator-class popular amongst Jedi Starfighter aces. It is a popular multi-role warship of this Navy and considered heavily armed and armoured enough to lead assaults on Rim worlds as well as fast enough to chase down blockade runners. Due to being relatively less self-sufficient than other ships in the fleet however, it often relies upon supply lines to aid long-ranging campaigns. They sport the red color of diplomatic immunity all Republic ships sport.
The armament of just one of these ships consists of 8 DBY-827 heavy dual turbolaser turrets, 2 Medium dual turbolaser cannons, 52 point-defence dual laser cannons or turbolasers and 4 heavy proton torpedo tubes. The 8 heavy dual turbolaser turrets are its main weapons and has two tracking modes. In its precise, long-range tracking mode, the DBY-827 can hit a target vessel at a range of 10 light minutes. During close-range fights, the turrets can rotate in three seconds with their fast tracking mode. It has seven different power settings, allowing the pilots and gunners to select a range of destruction from a small strike to a vaporizing blow. This ship can divert almost all of its reactor output to its heavy turbolasers when needed and as a result a flotilla of Venators can break through the shields of a Trade Federation battleship with ease. They are equipped with powerful engines, a Class 1 hyperdrive with an effective range of 60,000 lightyears. Its main reactor can annihilate up to 40,000 tons of hypermatter fuel per second. The main engine room has several vertical power cylinders littering the room, with walkways on different levels providing access to onboard personnel.
Despite possessing powerful weaponry, the Venator-class is designed with an additional starfighter carrier role in mind. Its hangars are far larger than those on other Star Destroyers, carrying a complement of 420 fighters;
- 192 V-Wing or V-19 Torrent Starfighters
- 192 Ecta-2 Actis-class Interceptors
- 36 ARC-170 Starfighters
It also typically maintains a variety of shuttles in its hangars, due to its capability of entering a planet’s atmosphere and landing on its surface. It has a standard complement of 40 LAAT/i gunships and 24 military walkers for planetary operations. It is also capable of holding one prefabricated garrison base for long term battles on planets.
In addition to a standard ventral hangar bay, the bow can also open up to reveal a half kilometer long dorsal flight deck. This enables the ship to launch hundreds of fighters however the slow opening and closing of the armoured bow doors can leave the ship extremely vulnerable, although strong shielding is used to compensate for this weakness. It also has hangar-openings on its port and starboard side which are used to dock with space stations, mooring towers and larger starships for the purpose of transferring troops and materials.
Due to its carrier role, it also features a novel dual bridge tower design. The port tower is the starfighter command bridge, while the starboard tower serves as a standard helm and command bridge. It is designed with dual crew pits where operators are stationed to control the ships various functions. Officers patrol the walkways above and have a panoramic view to the outside. In total, it has a crew of 7,400 and able to passenger 2,000 troops. On top of each tower is a hyperwave communications and scanner module.
Assault Ships and Carriers
Acclamator I-class Assault Ship
This ship, also known as the Republic Assault Ship, is 725 meters long and is responsible for carrying thousands of republic Clone Troopers into battle. It favours a wedge or dagger shaped design due to its effectiveness – allowing a concentration of firepower while minimizing target profile. They are armed with 4 heavy torpedo launch tubes, 24 point defense laser cannons (rated at 6 megatons per shot) and 12 quad turbolaser turrets (each rated at a maximum of 200 gigatons per shot). They are also armed with concussion missiles. Groups of these ships can perform a “Base Delta Zero” – an orbital bombardment that would exterminate all life on the planet. In addition to ground landings, they are also capable of water landings. The sensor and communications suites are located at the front of the command tower. The hull armor of this ship is impregnated with ultra-dispersive neutronium that withstands and spreads massive energy blasts. Fusion rockets fired by enemy forces barely make a scratch on the hull as a result.
They also carry support equipment and vehicles, such as the AT-TE and SPHA walkers, used to provide Clone Troopers with heavy battlefield support. They can hold 320 speeder bikes, used by Clone Troopers for fast battlefield reconnaissance and patrol duties. 80 LAAT gunships are carried to insert personnel, vehicles, and cargo into battle zones in addition to providing close air support. Gunships are suspended along an overhead circulating rail in the upper hanger for maintenance procedures during travels. A lower, smaller hanger area is used to embark and disembark ground troops and material when landed. The two levels are connected with elevator platforms. Most of the passenger and barrack decks are located on the upper levels.
Its main reactor is located in the middle of the vessel, inside the main superstructure, and is preceded at the frontal half of the ship by multiple fuel tanks. These tanks compress hypermatter to enormous density for storage. The tanks are connected to the main reactor via pipe assemblies. Secondary reactors are located towards the bow of the vessel. The ships main thrusters are fitted with eight electromagnetic rudders that deflect the exhaust particle streams and give boost when turning the ship. The secondary thrusters do not provide as much power, but are useful for maneuvering due to being placed further away from the ships main axis. The massive fin at the stem of the ship contains both the anti-gravity generator and the ships hyperdrive generator. When landed, the repulsorlift carries much of the ship’s weight, but the landing legs maintain a stable contact with the ground.
The bridge is located in the middle of an arrow-shaped command tower module that protrudes from the dorsal superstructure. The main bridge and command centre have no windows but rely upon advanced holoscreens shaped like triangular viewports. The bridge crew usually consists of fully-armored clone pilots manning the control panels with most operators being seated in twin crew pits below the command officer’s area. In total it has a crew of 700 with the capability of transporting 16,000 clone troopers and support personnel.
Acclamator II-class Assault Ship
These ships are the newest in the Acclamator series, the I-class being introduced in 32 BBY, this class being introduced this year. The design is aimed mainly at planetary bombardment proficiency, converting the Acclamator I-class assault transport into a fully-fledged warship. As a result of this, ships of this class have 80% less space available for troops. Therefore, most fleets only include one or two of these for orbital strikes while the majority of a given planetary assault fleet would be made up of the troop carrying LAAT/i’s. Due to its modifications, its hyperdrive is slightly slower than its predecessor. It can only carry 3,200 Clone Troopers. Other than this it has the same armaments and complements of its predecessor except for the removal of two of the Heavy Proton Torpedo Launchers – going from 4 down to 2.
Republic Carrier
This is a type of capital ship that specializes in ferrying and launching fightercraft.
Supercruiser
This is a variant of the Acclamator-class, angular and flat and equipped with a multitude of weapons as well as protruding antennae. They can each transport 20,000 soldiers or several megatons of cargo. The troopers can be launched in individual drop capsules from the vessel’s sides by way of a moving transport belt in the ship. It is capable of both space-to-ground bombardment as well as deep space capital ship fighting.
Frigates and Escort
Alderaanian War Frigate
The pride of Alderaan’s fleet and the most powerful ship of its time, the basic design of this frigate measures at 25t0 meters long and is armed with ten quad turbolaser batteries and four medium ion cannons as well as a small hangar deck on its bow.
Arquitens-class Light Cruiser
Also known as the Republic Light Cruiser or Jedi Light Cruiser, it resembles a smaller version of the Venator-class Star Destroyer with engines similar to the smaller Consular-class space cruiser. A docking ring is located on each side of the ship and a deep split cleaves the bow into two prongs. Atop the main hull is a small T-shaped command tower with two quad laser turrets flanking it. Two identical emplacements are located on the ventral bow, while four dual-barrelled turbolaser batteries are located on the sides of the cruiser. Large slits on either side of these cannons allow them to be repositioned for frontal, broadside or backwards firing. This function combined with the dorsal and ventral turrets grant the ship a good arc of fire. All gun emplacements are retracted into the hull during re-entry to prevent the barrels from being damaged by sudden drag force. The bridge/bow turrets descend/ascend into large trap-door hatches, while the flank cannons recede into the bow prongs. The ship also has two pairs of missile tubes on the edges between its turbolaser cannons. It is regarded as Escort-class.
Carrack-class Heavy Frigate
This Frigate is armed with ten batteries of laser cannons and also furnished with two batteries of MG1-A proton torpedo launchers. This class of starship is known to be exceptionally fast considering its size.
Consular-class cruiser (Charger c70 retrofit)
These cruisers are armed with five twin turbolaser cannons, each mounted on the opposing side of the center fuselage and one on the stern behind the sensor and communications array. The class also has a double laser turret on the top of the bow. It has a smaller sensor and communications array than on the peacetime vessels, and are staffed by clone pilots and officers. The weapons-system has a targeting screen of Corellian design.
DP20 Frigate
Also known as a Corellian Gunship, this is the most common member of the Corellian gunship product line. Though it is small and compact, it is fast and carries heavy firepower for a ship of its size and class. This gunship has minimal cargo space and almost no space for passengers or troops. These small ships are designed to be only two things: fast and deadly. Engines consume nearly half of the gunship’s interior space and what little room is left is used for deflector shield generators and weapons.
It is armed with eight double turbolaser cannons, four concussion missile tubes and six quad laser cannons and is effective against both larger capital ships as well as starfighters, though it is primarily used against the latter. These ships are 120 meters long, each one carrying a crew of 45 along with 46 gunners. They are equipped with Class 2 Hyperdrives.
Pelta-class Frigate
This is a highly modular capital ship used by Galactic Republic personnel as both a medical frigate and cargo frigate. The medical variant is painted with the characteristic red markings of the Republic Navy and in appearances bears similarities in design to the CR90 corvettes and DP20 frigates and has a command tower similar to that of the Consular-class cruisers. Medical frigates of this type are equipped with at least 4 escape pods. In order to move more smoothly through space, the frigate is capable of opening up a set of wings to expose smaller auxiliary engines. The wings are usually folded up to minimize the ship’s profile. The interiors can easily be switched out to conform to different mission assignments in the matter of hours. These frigates have heavy armor, as well as 2 light turbolaser batteries, 3 point-defense laser cannon batteries and 3 tractor beam batteries to defend themselves with.
The Cargo variant sports gray hull plating, contains a large interior for transporting supplies and unlike the medical frigate is armed.
Corvettes
Corellian Star Shuttle
Also known as the Republic Shuttle, this is a starship designed to carry a large number of ambassadors on missions throughout the galaxy. It is more spacious and can carry more people compared to the Consular-class space cruiser, and also features a large meetings room. As they are diplomatic vessels, Republic Shuttles lack weapons but boast a powerful deflector shield. This shuttle has a crew of one captain, two co-pilots, two communications officers and three engineers. It can carry around 200 passengers and 900 metric tons.
Republic Light Assault Cruiser
This is the term for armed and modified variants of the Consular-class cruiser used by members of the Judicial Forces and the Jedi Order. See wookiepedia for more details.
Starfighters
Agressive ReConnaissance-170 Starfighter (ARC-170)
This is a heavy starfighter/bomber. It has a narrow spaceframe flanked by large engines, also possessing an S-foil system which helps to radiate heat – something which aides the fighter’s shielding. It also provides additional stability during atmospheric flight. Using its front deflector shield projectors to disperse heat generated from air resistance, the ARC-170 can reach supersonic speeds in atmospheric flight. It is a large, rugged ship capable of long independent operations.
It is often sent on dangerous scout missions and raids deep in enemy territory and is equipped with a Class 1.5 hyperdrive – its nose filled with powerful sensors, scanners and jammers in order for them to be able to fulfil these missions. It carries enough consumables for five days of operation however carrying these supplies and additional equipment means the ARC-170 is quite slow. Durable armor and shielding, as well as two tail guns, help the ARC-170 to survive when surrounded by swarms of smaller, faster enemy fighters although it remains vulnerable to enemy anti-fighter guns.
It carries six proton torpedoes and wingtip-mounted medium laser cannons that are unusually large for a starfighter. They are often used as the heavy hitters in strike forces, escorted by V-Wings and ETA-2s. It is crewed by three clones – a pilot, a forward gunner who operates the wingtip-mounted lasers and a tail gunner who operates the rear-mounted cannons. It also carries an astromech droid to perform onboard repairs and navigation.
BTL-B Y-Wing Starfighter
These starfighters fly combat missions. It has a full covering of both the primary fuselage and engines, and a bubble turret which provides a clear view for the gunner with a 360-degree field of fire. It is designed as a bomber, using weapons such as proton bombs. The bubble-turret utilizes two light ion cannons for defence against enemy starfighters and it is also equipped with two medium laser cannons mounted on the front of the starfighter. They possess a hyperdrive system allowing them to jump into hyperspace without the reliance of a carrier of hyperspace ring and also make use of an astromech droid.
Cord-class Starfighter
A starfighter model equipped with a laser cannon, stationed aboard the Republic Acclamator-class assault ships.
Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor
These are more commonly known as the Jedi Starfighter, due to its extensive use by the Jedi and has only newly been commissioned before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. It is considered highly advanced at this time and carries sophisticated equipment but it expensive to produce. It is armed with two twin laser cannons and an advanced communication and sensor array which keeps the pilot of the ship well-prepared in firefights as well as in peacetime. The starfighters are owned by the Jedi Order and are colored in the red and white hues that represent the diplomatic immunity the Jedi enjoy.
Due to current limitations in technology, the starfighter’s size does now allow for a built-in hyperdrive and instead has to rely on other spacecraft or an external hyperdrive ring for faster-than-light travel. It has very powerful sublight engines however, driving it to a maximum acceleration of 5,000G. They also currently do not allow for a full-size astromech navigator due to the fact that, because of the design and hull thinness, a full size astromech socket doesn’t fit. Instead, the astromech droids are integrated directly into the starfighter with only the truncated droid’s head visible. At least two models of these droid are used, the R3-D series used primarily for targeting and the R4-P series used more for navigation.
V-19 Torrent Starfighter
This is an assault starfighter with exceptional speed and maneuverability, piloted by Clone Pilots. It is unique in that it has two pairs of folding airfoils (S-Foils) that give the ship added maneuverability and provide pilots with easy access to the cockpits sliding canopy. The lower, hinged S-foils coupled with enhanced repulsorlift engines makes the V-19 an exceptional vertical take-off and landing fighter. Its armament consists of two blaster cannons (One on each wingtip) and two concussion missile launchers. The number of concussion missiles carried by the V-19 is currently unknown but it is at least 6. It was initially designed as a short-range fighter, but republic technicians have added a Class 1 hyperdrive to equip the vessel for escort missions, some modified even to use Syluire-31 hyperspace docking rings. Many of the hyperdrive-less fighters are still in service however.
The prototypes were used during the Battle of Geonosis, and due to their success have been hurried into production to fill the gap evidenced by the LAAT gunships’ ineffectiveness against enemy starfighters. Due to the months of training it takes for the Clone Trooper Pilots to become proficient with the vessel however, this fighter will not be available in large numbers for some of the more early engagements of the Clone Wars we will encounter.
Consular-class Cruiser
This is a starship used by the Galactic Republic to transport Jedi and diplomats to troubled spots across the galaxy. It is equipped with a salon pod that serves as a secure meeting area for Republic representatives and leaders of groups in conflicts. There are also a variety of salon pods that cater to different alien species. In emergency situations, the entire salon pod can eject from the mother craft, and with its own sensors, life support equipment and engines, protect the diplomatic crew on board. The craft also carries a number of escape pods. The cruiser’s total capacity is 9 crew and 16 passengers. For increased security on diplomatic missions, the organic crew is kept to a minimum with many ship functions attended to by droids.
Although the diplomatic version is unarmed, various other cruisers are modified to have double turbolaser cannons and two concussion missile launchers installed. Some were modified to serve as troop carriers and command ships.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
